Octavia Mk2 vRS Tuning - Best option?

Anyone out there taken time to evaluate the best option for tuning the new 2.0T Octavia vRS? I've used a Swedish outfit called BSR before (with Saab) who provide a 'tune-it-yourself' unit called a PPC for c.£500. They claim around 248bhp for the VAG group 2.0T engine. I've seen ads for Jabra, but their tuning seems limited and is c.£375.

Any other options for best price/perf increase?

Revo seems to quote the best power figs, approx 260 at the flywheel, for £499 + vat.

Next to do is turbo back exhaust** (200 cel cat), neuspeed induction kit, and stage 2 revo. Should be knocking on the door of 290 - 300 bhp then.

Forge have made an adjustable DV for the Fsi T now aswell.

**Blueflame are developing an exhaust next week apparently.

Re: Octavia Mk2 vRS Tuning - Best option?

I just had my Octy II vRS remapped by BSR in Sweden. I can highly recommend them, and I have no doubt the power claims are accurate. It feels like 3:rd gear now is how second was before, and so on through the gears

The extra power is not availiable until the engine temperature has reached 80 degees celcius. This is of course to protect the engine, but it also gives you a daily reminder of how it feels in standard trim.

BSR doesn't have the sportfilter and exhaust package ready yet, but they're working on it. They also have an insurance policy, that will cover engine failiure, if Skoda refuse due to the tuning. It costs a little exstra, but I think it's worth it.

Good luck

I think he means what he says. Apparently, so I hear, 3rd pulls like 2nd, 4th like 3rd etc.

Like Shifty say: Third gear pulls like second did when standard, fourth pulls like third, and so on. Have to take it very easy in first and second gear or you'll just burn rubber . Might have something to do with the spiked winter tyres though. Tomorrow the summer tyres are coming on, then we'll se.

Max torque 380 Nm (standard is 280 Nm) between 3.500 and 4.500 rpm. Max hp 248 (standard 200 hp) between 4.500 and 6.000 rpm. Check out http://www.bsrab.se for more info

Will be very interested to hear how the "development" of the new exhaust goes

Revo Sps is one system I believe, and others have switchable systems too. I have personally no experience of any of them though. Why would you want to switch it off anyway?

The remap, apparently, gives the car lots and lots of smooth power from 2000 rpm upwards, right to the red line, and the torque is truly remarkable. 300 ft lbs. It's like driving a mapped Fabia vrs, but better.

Im looking forward to hear how the development of the blueflame system, and stage 2 map affects performance, as the second map gives more mid and top end power.

All the other parts ie brakes, suspension, clutch seem happy to cope so far. Apparently.

Re: Octavia Mk2 vRS Tuning - Best option?

With BSR you get a small computer called "PPC" with your purchase. You plug it into the cars diagnostics system and you can tune and detune as many times as you like. It takes about five minutes, so it's not like you just flip a switch, but still pretty effortless. You can also update the PPC over the internet, so you always have the latest availiable software for your car.

There's no need to change anyting, the car can handle the extra power. At least I havn't had any problems so far

I know of a car with full blueflame turbo back exhaust, 200 cel cat, neuspeed induction kit, forge blow off valve, and stage 1 and stage 2 revo software on board.

Power figs estimated up around 280 bhp+, with torque over 300 ft lbs. Apparently, the standard chassis/brakes etc are up to the job.

I saw a guy with a new vRS, flying down a country road, as it flew past it sounded like a slightly muted WRC car. I did notice (when I squinted very hard) a little blue flame logo, but then it wooshed and growled off into the distance, with the driver grinning like a maniac. Guy thought he was the lone ranger, a call of Hi Ho silver was heard at one point.

Depends how you drive, but generally fuel economy does'nt suffer too badly with these kind of modifications, apparantly!.

Driven normally, fuel economy is the same, if not better so I hear.

Use the extra though, and you might see 9mpg
