Question Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

It has puzzled me why some sources do not list the Octavia Sport as a separate 'trim level' or edition (see Glass's for instance). Will this impact on the resale value?

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Possibly.

It is basically a specced up Ambiente though. I think it would command a small premium though, maybe somewhere between the Ambiente and Elegance of similar mileage/age.

I went shopping for a new car recently. I found that dealers outside the Skoda network didnt know what they were looking at. They would run the reg number though the computer and of course it came back as an Ambiente model.

This in turn meant a cr4p part ex price for a car that was over 20K two years ago

Best dealer I found was Renault, they actually bothered to look the car over and take into consideration the extras the Sport model has plus the other options fitted to the car. Still didnt get a good enough price to warrant doing the deal though

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

The DVLA Log says ambiente, this was the argument i had with the garage. I told the garage that if i wanted an ambiente then why would i spend a few grand more for a sport? but they assured me it wouldnt affect resale value later down the line,,,, yeah right.

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Oh dear! the Octavia Sport could be starting to look like a very bad purchase indeed. Good car and bad resale value.

I am also an unfortunate Sport owner.

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Quite a few Sport owners, don't be so worried!

The Sport is basically an option pack at the end of the day - just like specing up any other car.

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

the reason i chose the sport was cos its basically a vrs without the turbo. After waying up my mileage, fuel costs, tax, insurance it seemed the better option as well as the garage saying how it would hold its value better than a vrs, hmmmmm. Wondering now if i should have gone with the vrs i originally intended to go for? or the blue vrs with maxi dot and jumbo but no xenons as the dealer kept trying to offer me??? (I dont want blue and i want xenon arguement).

Moral of the story?

DON'T LISTEN TO THE SALESMAN!!!

Don't let them talk you into/out of anything.

Do your research and stick to your guns.

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Eh? But the sport has normal seats, no fancy trim, very subtle styling. Its definitely more Ambiente than vRS!

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

thought the latest sport models had sport seats (like vrs but without the leather) and the VRS steering wheel too - mine doesn't as it was just before the change but I've seen some with...

also sport has vrs 'like' body kit, chrome double exhaust trim and sport kick plates and badges - I reckon it does at least look more like a VRS than ambient...but I would say that

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Surely this is only a problem if you trade in your car, which is silly, sell private!

Also TPM, sports suspension with 17" alloys and ESP as standard Does the Ambiente get the small leather pack? thats something else the Sport comes with as standard.

Trading in @ a Skoda dealer is not a problem. The problems start when you take the car to any other dealership, It looks like a private sale would be the way to go.

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

mine has sports kits, sports seat, esp, 17" alloys, tpm and body kit, trust me i wasnt going to get a skoda till i saw the vrs, then when i ordered my sport and saw a 1.9tdi standard on the garage forecourt with plastic black bumpers i thought i had made a mistake as it looked ugly, but the sport looks really nice.

I also have a VRS badge on the front too suprising how many people actually think its a VRS with it

Whats the sport kick plate dont think i have them??

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Re: Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Another case of a poor dealer letting a good brand down

i had the same problem. The salesman at the dealer i bought from told me they were only on the 2007 build when i asked about them after having to go back to have some things fixed that were delivered wrong

i knew that was tosh though as two others on here with 55 plates later confirmed they had them. As youve done, i sent a quick email to skoda uk and they sent a voucher to get them fitted at a dealer of my choice. (i went elsewhere as you may have guessed.)

so far every dealing ive had with skoda uk has been good (touches wood)
