Octavia vrs 2.0T FSI Interior trim

Having owned two Fabia VRS models, first a black 04 then a silver 55 VRS decided to move up to an Octavia VRS. Bought an ex demonstrator two weeks ago in race blue with the 18 inch Zeniths and the red brake calipers. Its only done 3 thousand miles but the drivers side seat bolster already looks a bit second hand and the glove box needs to be shut with a bang. Is this common with this model? Apart from the interior niggles love the way it goes as I thought I could be making a mistake moving away from the Fabia diesel. Taking a hit at the pumps though seems to be using a gallon of super unleaded every 28 miles, is this normal?

V-Power is what mine likes to drink. If I drive 'normally' on a run it can be up to 40mpg. Around town etc is normally 32 to 35.

The seat bolsters do look a bit 'crinkled' - I think that's just how they are.

The glove box might just need adjusting.

My tailgate rattles but that is a known problem and will be sorted when I get time to take it in.

Are you meaning the rear seat clips issue or is there something else to keep an eye on ?

Yes the seat bolsters do look a bit "second-hand" and I have my fair share of rattles.
Currently one from the glovebox, drivers side footwell, creaking seat and a knocking noise from the drivers door when I brake, accelerate or turn a corner.
I did have a rattle from the tailgate which the dealer fixed and was down to the rubber pull-down handle.

These will be dealt with at the first service.

Fuel wise I average around 28mpg but on a run I easily get 30-35mpg.

Mine is the tailgate rattling as well as the latch misaligned but it's the subject of a TSB.

I kinda thought that some of the creaking that I have found was sometimes from the back (initially I thought it was the bootlid itself moving about), but wasn't sure if its the way the sound was travelling, but there's definitely something from the front aswell.

Regarding the tailgate, is it the plastic inside or the whole tail gate itself moving ? And how do they plan to resolve it ?

Technical Service Bulletin

Quote:
It has been brought to our attention that you may experience customer complaints that relate to the operation of the tailgate lock on Octavia A5 hatch vehicles.
If a customer presses the centre button of the key remote for longer than four seconds the tailgate should automatic release off both catch positions so that the customer can open the tailgate by just lifting it.
Unfortunately, some vehicles only release off the first catch, therefore, the customer will have to operate the tailgate release switch.
