Octavia VRS TDi Problems

You may all remember my earlier thread re the above, well just to let you all know that after much soul searching I have decided to sell my car back to the supplying dealer,at a price where we all have to give a little, but no-one looses massive amounts.

I DO NOT blame the dealer, rather Skoda UK and VAG for their complete and total lack of technical support and 'customer care'

After being inconvenienced so many times Skoda had only offered £150 in compensation-oh,and this had to be spent in a dealership!(you can guess what I told them to do!)

Because of this attitude,my belief that VAG vehicles were good, has been severely damaged,to the point where I may well never own another one-well done Skoda customer services!!!!!!

This actually begs a question-what would have happened had this car been a Bently/Lamborghini or a Bugatti Veyron?????

You have been warned!

A bitterly disappointed Ex Skoda owner

I think it might be worth writing this one up in the reviews section if you have time. It is quite a saga.

Re: Octavia VRS TDi Problems

Continual EML and/or glow-plug lights flashing, faults shown in Maxi-dot display, car in limp home mode.

MAF replaced 3 times

Height sensor replaced 3 times

Pressure sensor replaced 3 times

Glow plug relay replaced 3 times

Wiring to MAF replaced

Both headlights replaced

Drivers side sill cover replaced

Not bad in 6 months ownership, although I haven't had the car for 12 weeks of that time!

The worst problem is still the TOTAL feeling of being let down by SKODA.........

Re: Octavia VRS TDi Problems

can you not argue that the car was not fit for purpose and get a full refund rather than have to be out of pocket after being let down so badly by Skoda UK??

does sound terrible.

Re: Octavia VRS TDi Problems

Not so easy,my Solicitor stated that the SUPPLYING dealer must have a realistic chance to put the faults right, and as they were 150 miles away it went to my local dealer(a lot of times) first,on reflection I consider that this MAY not have helped,as it made me more irate about the whole thing!!

The supplying dealer has bent over (almost) backwards and although they didn't supply a like for like loan car,I cannot really fault them.

Like most of you VRS owners I ordered this car with the 'bits' that would add to my comfort and enjoyment, and fully intended to keep it at least 3 years, the performance/economy were most impressive and particually the 'umph' from 70-130mph(sorry 330Cd owners!!!)

I would like to assure you all that the decision was NOT reached lightly-but we all need to move on!

I haven't replaced the car yet,as I'm still smarting a bit from all these problems!

The same thing happened to me with my previous car: Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVTi. I owned it only for a year and it had many faults, some of them never solved because of the famous phrase: "It's normal". Finaly, after receiving recall letter from Toyota saying that there is a part of the steering system that may fail and make driver loose control, I went to the dealer and they said they would change it only if part was showing some problems. As car had 7.000 km only, part was still OK and I asked what if it brakes later, they said they had nothing to do with it. So, sold the car, lost a money and said never again to Toyota. Talking with some friend from the North they say Toyota dealer there is the best dealer of all brands there. Here in the South they are the worst. Here, Skoda dealer (it is VW, Audi, Skoda dealer) is extremely good. I'll stick with them.
So, I wanted to say that dealers sometimes make us love or hate the brand.

Christ what a ringer you were sold! I have had my new vrs petrol for 9 months now without one single problem (touching wood) bar an early oil top up. I think in fairness you were very unlucky and its a pity that the fantastic skoda build quality isnt matched by its after sale customer care.
