| I have owned a MK1 octi vrs which has been mildly fettled with and I managed to persuade my wife to get rid of her ****roen and get a fabia vrs, she only picked it up yesterday and we are now both hooked to the relaxed yet fun drive of the diesel. So, here's my dilema, I want my octi to drive more like the fabia vrs, so should i px my octi 1 for an octi 2 diesel? Can anyone help with describing what the diesel octi 2 vrs feels like to drive compared to the octi 1 vrs, my octi has a green panel filter, full blue flame exhaust and a jabba chip. |

| Considering the Octaiva vRS 2 diesel isnt out yet no-one will be able to tell you what it feels like, I'd imagine similar to a remapped Fabia?

| I think you'll be lucky to see one in this country before the end of August, but that said, the petrol version ain't bad. ![]()

| Reviews of the 170 diesel engine in other VAG cars say it doesn't drive as nicely as the 140!! I really wanted the 170 diesel but bought my petrol VRS 2 weeks ago before it was confirmed. Damn!!!! The petrol engine is great though drives very smoothly and some say , in reviews, a bit like a diesel but smoother. Obviously you don't get the same MPG but it is a great engine.

There's several reports now of RR tests on 140 TDi's yielding 160bhp 'before' remapping and I can confess the car does feel more powerful than the manufacturers figures suggest. It's no slouch and easliy a match at speed for the Octy mk1 vrs. I would highly recommend test driving the 140 tbh and if it isnt powerful enough for you after a while then have it remapped to 180bhp and 400Nm of torque. You can then give Octy MkII vrs's a run for their money.

| After driving the furb vRS allways felt the oct mk1 vrs lacked torque and smiles/mile IMO. Wife as just got a mk 2 vRS and have to say in relation to torque it is much more like the diesel and stonking to drive. have seen 5 mpg accelerating uphill on motorway tho but overall the figures on the 'instant' read out have not been too frightening. Still on first tank of tescos 99 ron so can't be too sure, but what the hell, I work damn3d hard so why not enjoy the play time?

| I had a 2.0 140 TDI as my courtesy car last week and had a lot of fun with it. It is a simply brilliant engine and felt CONSIDERABLY more powerful than the paper figures suggest. Great fun. I'd love one. Must be incredible with a good remap. |

Aye, and apparently the 170's are close to 190 bhp.
