Red face Octy 2.0tdi Clutch Judder

I've noticed that my new 2.0tdi judders when pulling away. I've only covered 500 miles in it so far but it is pretty noticable especially in slow moving traffic but only when setting off in 1st gear. My furby vrs was perfect so I know its nothing I'm doing. I've also tried letting the clutch out really slowly and keeping the revs higher but it still happens, though sometimes it is more apparant than others.

Anyone else had this problem with the diesel engines? (I'm thinking DMF) or had it fixed - should I leave it for a couple of thousand miles and see if it just needs 'bedding in' or get it to the dealer straight away? Any advice?

thanks,

My 2.0 TDI Octy has 1.000 kms on the clock now and has no problem like that. But, my company's car Renault Megane 1.5 dCi has now 9.000 kms on the clock and started to do exactely the same thing like yours on arround 2.000 kms. It still does that but only in pulling away in 1st gear and with engine cold. After 10-15 kms driving it doesn't do that anymore and it's ok till the end of the day. Next morning, the same story. Went to Renault dealer and they said it's absolutely normal with those engines.
Let's hope it's true.

thanks bosnjo, think I'll give it a few thousand miles and monitor it as it does seem to be fine on some set offs but not on others...wierd.

As you know 2.0 TDi is an excellent engine, strong and refined, but one of its weaknesses is the start from the standstill. It's not so smuth as it should be (especially if the engine is cold) and it takes time to get used to it. I love the car and the engine, but it's obvious to me that starting from the standstill is not so easy as I've experienced with the other cars and i've drove a few.

Something to live with, but you'll get use to it soon enough!

Cheers!

It may be a case of living with it. My 1.9tdi elegance had judder from 2000 miles, had a new clutch and flywheel at 2500 miles. Great, lasted a week nad now judders again. Worse when pulling from rest in firts with some lock on the wheels. Can be bad on hill statrs and when moving forward in heavy traffic like a motorway standstill. It's going back in for another look. Also have trouble engaging reverse since the new clutch. Not very elegant elegance. I want to fit a towbar and pull a trailer. Will a juddring clutch survive the extra load? I wonder.

My clutch/DMF seems to be on the way out, it's clattering and jolting but only after 20,000 miles. In to the dealer ASAP.

VAG don't seem to have entirely sorted the TDI/DMF arrangement just yet.

Would yours not be covered under the current recall or if not I assume it'd be a warranty job.

Not had any notification of any recall on the car, only had it 4 months as well. It was within spitting distance of MY2007

Hopefully the dealer can tell me if there is any outstanding recalls today.

Thats sort of good news if you know what i mean, hopefully they can quickly diagnose the problem this morning.

I assumed they had dropped the dodgy make of flywheel a while ago as i remember reading about 54 plate vehicles being recalled. I didn't expect a late '06 car to be affected

Agreed but they are talking of the last affected build date of 30 06 2005 which is a long way off a late 06 car.

My 2.0TDI has clutch judder, but only when from cold and for a couple of miles only but not every time! Took it back to dealer late one night and left it for them to test first thing in the morning when cold and they "found nothing wrong". Also have had it recalled for flywheel fault but mine's OK.

My previous 1.9 TDi 130 and my current 2.0 Tdi 140 do this when cold, took the 1.9 back 3 times but was told in the end it was a characteristic and i did over 30k before it went back and no problems or failure, just irritating.
