You can get a witter towbar for the Octy 2 http://www.witter-towbars.co.uk/ but Id worry about the electrics they appear to be much more complicated.

I'm not sure if the 3rd party retailers are fully up to date on the electrics. Im hanging on to see what happens as I dont need a towbar right away.

Cheers

Thanks Kentish. Sorry the reply has been along time coming as I have been away in my caravan. My towbar is a witter it cost £280 fitted by my local fitter, this included a box of tricks to sort the wireing out. Car towed well,300 miles at 34mpg solid as a rock, if you need more help pm me.

Hi

This is my first posting but have read the many threads with interest for several months since upgrading to new Octavia 2 from VW Bora.

Have recently had a Bosal 'Demountable' Towbar with 13pin 'euro' electrics fitted. Cost all inclusive was £250. Chose this option as it allows removal of the towball without incurring cost of a quick release towball. Only a small cut required on underside of bumper skirt. Without the towball fitted all you can see is the mounting point and the socket

Only downside is towball is a swan neck type rather than flange fitted towball as was the case on the Bosal version fitted to previous car. Means I can't use Witter Towbar mounted bike rack anymore

13pin electrics work fine and having just one visible socket keeps the rear looking tidy.

Used an specialist trailer/towbar garage in Blackburn after a bit of research - they really know their stuff and are up to speed on modern electrics.

Car tows well to-date although big test will be end of May on trip to France.

Hope this helps

I've got the factory fitted (£340) towbar on mine. I haven't towed anything with it yet though!!! However, I can tell you that with the electrics folded away and the towball detached, there's no evidence of the towbar at the back of the car at all. It has the 13 pin electrics, but an adapter for twin 7-pin is supplied as standard.

Pendle do a swan neck tow ball mounted bike rack which is cracking. Mine is the 4 bike version, and apart from being rock solid, comes complete with lighting etc....a great piece of kit.

Try the Bosal online catalogue - www.bosal.com
There's a full list of those bars that are now available

I'd go for the factory fitted one then - only £345.

The details you require can be found at http://www.trailersandtowbars.co.uk

As mentioned, they are really up-to-speed on the electrics and are reasonable on price.

happy towing

Octavia Estate towbar - Questions

I am waiting to source towbar and electrics for Octy 2 Estate.
I have been quoted £590 from the dealer with 13 pin Euro Electrics.
It states "not suitable for caravan", but I guess this is because of the
13 Pin electrics. Can someone explain?
I know you can get a 13 to 7 pin adapter to be able to link up a trailer
or lighting bar, but does anyone know if this dealer after-fit 13 pin electrics
if fully wired and able to support the two 7 pin connectors from say a caravan
and is an adapter available to do this ?

Has anyone had a none dealer towbar fited to the Octy 2 Estate and if so
from which manufacture was it, what model number and who fitted it.
What about the electrics, were there any problems?
Brink told me two months ago that a brinkmatic(detachable) and swan neck
were available, but when I tried to order one via a towbar specialist I was
told the Brinkmatic had been cancelled and the swan neck was not yet available. I have also been told that the Witter SK12 may fit the estate, but
have yet to get this conmirmed.

If anyone has any info on 13 pin electrics and/or towbar availabilty for estate it would be a great help.

HI with referance to the above,
You can get 13 pin adaptors which convert to two 7 pin sockets, try looking at www.towsure.co.uk Regarding the witter bracket as the estate is proberbly the same as the hatch under the bumpers for mounting points, my witter fitter said it would proberbly fit.
If you need any more info pm me are try this helpful site,
www.caravantalk.org.uk Their is always someone with an answer hope this helps

With the Skoda Towbar they should supply you with the 13 to 7 pin adapter as part of the kit. Otherwise there are plenty of places you can get them.
