| Just went to hop into the 3 week old (tomorrow) Octy, popped the key in the ignition, no dash lights, no engine start, no front wipers, no clicky whirry of anything, yet all the other leccy's work fine. Checked the fuses with the amazing stand on your head whilst reading in a mirror fuse layout, nothing blown, or appears to have blown so I am now sitting at home waiting for Skoda Assistance. No mod's, nothing done other than washed it today, any idea's brisky oracles? Blummin furby never missed a beat...... bah ..... humbug. Fluff' Last edited by Fluffmeister; 04-05-2006 at 21:35. |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! AA guy is here, and has not got a clue .... very reassuring Never washed under the bonnet, and only have a hose not a pressure washer, fuses for the wipers are ok but they are still not working, he is currently checking every fuse on the car and has taken off the battery / put it back on..... the alarm works so far the failures are: Front Wipers Dash warning lights (Clock works, dash illumination works) No power to starter Is it possible the immobiliser could have cut in for some reason ... but why would that effect the wipers Got to be out early tomorrow as well, and need to travel to edinburgh tomorrow night ... yikes |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! AA Man has given up, hire car centre is shut so I am up the creek without a paddle at the moment and not to chuffed. If I don't get to work tomorrow I lose a day as I am working freelance, AA chap has said ring again at 7am and we will get it transported to a skoda dealer and take it from there. Front wipers are fine now, he did not say what he did to fix them, but still no dash warning lights or power to the starter motor etc. All other electrics, including dash illumination are fine. Will keep you posted on the outcome folks. fluff' |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! There is a 5 amp (IIRC) fuse in the ebox that controls the steering column control unit. If this goes out so does the ignition and the starter. |

Not sure if this is anything, whilst waiting for the recovery truck I have had the multimeter out, on the internal fuse box all the fuses on the top row (no's 1 - 6) are good, but only have 1.3V passing through them. Fuse 6 on that bank is for the instrument cluster, so surely they should be at 12V like the other fuse rows in the box? If they should could it be a jiggered CAN unit somewhere or an equally jiggered relay? The plot thickens | |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Phoned the stealer, they have had it 2 hours and not looked at it yet, not been offered a hire or courtesy car and I should be at work 220 miles away by now. Not a happy bunny so far. To the skoda Mole You would think that a critical electrical failure on a 3 week old "flagship" model would have sparked a bit of interest by now, I can appreciate there are other things going on and they can't drop everything just for me, but it arrived at opening time. Sorry if I am bitching, but whilst I am working freelance, if I am not at work I am not getting paid, if I am not onsite tomorrow I lose the contract for the rest of the week costing me a lot of money and repeat business ....... come on skoda, finger out!!!!!!! |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Have you actually asked for a courtesey car? IF you have and they refused, then tell them you will hire one and invoice them for it, and do so. Good luck getting it fixed fella.

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! You get a free hire car for 48 hours. My AA guy took mine to the dealers at 2am He also drove me to a car hire place, came in with me and then took me to the hire car. Went to Heathrow airport where there is a 24 hour car hire place (Europcar IIRC). Only a Megane, but at least I kept mobile. I'd 'phone and demand a car ![]()

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Had to get back onto the AA to organise a hire car, asked for courtesy car told that skoda assist should have sorted that which is a fair one, AA / Skoda assist seem to be faffing a bit as it's a "home start" issue, they (at the moment) want to wait for the dealers assesment, which again I think is fair but I am under pressure from a customer to be somewhere. What I am peeved over is it could have gone on the diagnostics by now, then I could have been told "you can have it back today" or I could have been told "it's going to be a few days" so then I could get skoda assist into action for a hire car, but as it's not been plugged in to the diagnostics rig yet I am just sat here in the dark worrying about losing a big customer (my second largest customer) |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Managed to put my job off until Sunday, spoken to the dealer twice and still not much happening. They have had the Octy on the diagnostics and the ONLY control module responding is the Power steering, even though all the electrics are working, none seem to be responding back to the diagnostics equipment. The dealer have tried a "reboot" and are still working on it, they have half pointed a finger at me washing the car, because I cleaned out the engine bay with some autoglym and the flash wash on "autodry" (I am sensible enough to know NOT to saturate an engine bay, even though some valeters will steam clean them) and then wiped it down after a good spray of WD40, they have mentioned that the if they consider it to be water damage that has caused this massive system failure, then the warranty will not be valid. I have been offered a Furby as a courtesy car which I will collect later but at the moment I am pretty much seething with anger and am about to start phoning / writing to anyone who will read or listen. Can't type anymore, need to go sit in a dark room and calm down before I explode ![]() |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Sorry to read of your problems. All I can say is that my dealer in Perthshire would never leave me in the lurch like that. They would get me mobile one way or another that day. My octy has't missed a beat (touch wood) in the 11 months since I got it but I have at least got peace of mind. Been a paid up member of the AA for 20 years and never used the yet... Thank goodness after reading your probs. Hope you get sorted out ASAP. G.K. |

| Briskodian | Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! A few years ago my 4 month old passat ran out of oil. (yes I know now that VW engines drink oil for the first 1-5k) Anyway, like the other post. AA man came out, and took the car to the local dealers to be checked out, but also rang the rental car place and sorted out a 48 hour rental car. The rental car was delivered to my door, then picked up 48 hours later. ![]()

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Well the dealer has woken up and pulled the stops out Dealer's service manager is on the case now, and I am not quite as peeved as I was. The problem on the car is not closer to being solved, it went on the diag's and the only module replying back was the power steering, they "rebooted" the cars systems (please god, let's hope microsoft are not providing the software ) and after the reeboot the car reported all units operational but it still has no power to the dash and won't turn over. The finger is pointing at the Ebox at the moment, suk are getting involved and I hope to hear something positive early this week, a new Ebox c/w relays etc etc has been ordered but they are puzzeled as to why the car is now essentially saying "Everything is Fine" but still refusing to show dash activity or start not the best start to octy ownership, but as long as it's sorted I will be happy. careful in those engine bays folks ![]() |

| Re: Octy Broken .... grrrrrrrrrr! Well it'd fixed A master relay under the steering wheel had blown, now the bad bit, SUK say it's not covered under warranty as I cleaned the engine bay out, possibly causing it to short something in the Ebox. what would your opinion be folks? Fluff' ****ed fek skoda. ..... SUK would be the correct term for them atm imho ![]() |
