Re: Octy free spec upgrade

There are certainly some good deals going on here; makes you wonder how brokers have such a good reputation for being able to beat the dealer prices. I think it just takes a confident haggler to do the deal....

Ive ordered a 2008 Race Blue TFSI VRS estate with:

Dual zone air conditioning,
Jumbo Box*(3.5" aux inc.)
Rear electric windows
Metallic paint
Acoustic front and rear parking sensors
Cruise control
Curtain airbags
Electric sunroof (slide & tilt)
18” Zenith alloy wheels
Xenon headlights with integrated headlight washers
Auto dimming rear view mirror with rain sensor and light assistant
Maxi-Dot
Active head restraints
Heated seats
Flexiboot
GuardX interior/exterior protection

Oh and a full tank of V power....

For £19499.

Just had confirmation today that the order has been 'accepted' at the factory. Delivery Mid September.

Maybe it's just to even out the models being sold, there may be a shortfall of Classic and Ambiente models rollingout of the showrooms

I have contacted the dealer via your link, and asked them to quote me for a Vsr 170bhp Octavia on an 07 plate. They have none left, only had 15 anyway, and cannot confirm if they can get anymore vRS Octavias. They say no more showing on the dealer site!

When asked if they could still get me one for £15,495. They were a little unsure and could not say yes or no .

Looks like a case of being in the right place at the right time.

Worth keeping an eye on this link though for any would be new buyers, just in case there is a repeat of this deal .

there have been some photos of the possible facelift around, bringing the front end more in line with the new fabia/roomster and new superb

WOW

People are buying £20k Skoda's now......... even with the extra's, it's still quite a lot of cash.......

PS, what the heck is an active headrest? tunnel?
*Edit* Did a search, I know what they are now.... tunnel lights, can't you just "switch" the lights on, not got to go far to do that

Re: Octy free spec upgrade

The tunnel lights come as a package with the auto dimming rear veiw mirror and rain sensing wipers, If I had my way I wouldn't bother with the auto lights as there are only three settings: off, side and main lights. I think I can just about deal with that.

Active headrests = massaging heated or cooled head rests with M-B inspired "air scarf" built in....................................

In reality they flick forward if you get punted from behind and help prevent whiplash

Re: Octy free spec upgrade

There have been many posts on this one, there are several pictures of potential facelifts about - some good, some rubbish. Until we get a definitve spy shot I think we should all keep an open mind on this one, it will either go towards the new Superb or towards the Fabia II/Roomster front end. The pic above seems to steer in the direction on the new Superb (thank god).

Re: Octy free spec upgrade

Auto wipers, Auto Lights, Dimming mirror.

I have had it all on my Renault Scenic and there more a pain then an aid.

Autowipers:
Never work as expected. you spend most of your time fiddling with the settings. I end up turning them off by just flicking the wipers when I need them.

Auto Lights:
Again, turned off. I was just waiting for the day when some big bloke gets out and hits me a box because I am flashing at him as I go in and out of my local shopping center car park.

Tinting mirror:
Now this is a good feature, you can still see behind you but your not blinded by the **** behind with his Hi-Beams on.
Only down side. You still get blinded by the two wing mirrors.
It's pointless having it unless all mirrors are fitted with it.

Re: Octy free spec upgrade

Is the vRS kit upgrade and free servicing offer only available if you use Skoda finance?

Thinking of trading in my old Civic Type-R by the way, will be a sad day when it goes

You don't have to use Skoda finance to get the free kit upgrades.

That doesn't mention the free servicing though.

I'm sure the Octavia will win me over (if I decide to go for one), but I've done 92,000 miles from new in the old beast and I'm seriously attached to it.

Free servicing is linked to the finance deal.

Free equipment is an extended offer irrelevant of taking the finance

I had these on my Clio. The wipers were a PITA as you say and never quite got the right speed. Plus you have to switch them on once to 'activate' the auto function which defeated the purpose of them.

Didn't mind the lights so much, bit embarrassing them coming on in short tunnels though. A pain having to switch them from auto to manual if you want the fogs on. I couldn't switch this off at all.

It's not just Skoda (VW) finance you need for the free servicing, you need to have it on Solutions I think.

Sorry to say, I have to disagree.

Autowipers: It's rained pretty much non-stop since I got my Octy (two weeks ago) and the auto-wipers work well and much less annoying than a fixed-interval intermittent wipe which wipes when the screen's dry.

Auto-lights: The scenario you suggest never happened once in the four years I used this feature in a Peugeot 307 SW SE. Anyway, if you configure your doors to auto-lock over 10mph you'll have enough breathing space to floor it and get outta there

Tinting mirror (auto-dimming): According to my handbook/manual, the door mirrors do auto-dim too and they auto-clear when you select reverse (and the rear wiper will clear the rear screen if the front wipers are on!).

Brilliant!

Give it time. They will soon get on your T*Ts I have had them for 4 years now and hate them.

Quote:

Then I would suggest they don't work correctly. They should come on in low light.
You will get low light in a car park under a wide bridge or a very overcast day.

If thats true then its well worth having. I did like the dimming mirror but the wing mirrors where the problem. If they all do it then fantastic feature.
I would still test it out by getting a friend to put his high beams on behind you just to make sure.

As for the wipers on the back when reversing. The Scenic has that and it is a good feature. It also clears the mirrors but thats rubbish as you are only reversing for a couple of seconds....... not nearly long enough for the mirror's to clear enough. By the time they clear your going forward again.
