| Octy II Front Wipers Upgrade Hi to all, I need to upgrade front wiper on the driver's side. I'm very tall and driver's side wiper wipes just too low for the level of my eyes. I have drivers seat lowered whole the way. I have had the same issue with my previous car (Toyota Avensis) but as it had classic wipers it was easy to do the upgrade. Now, my Octy has Aero Flat Blade Wipers. So, I can't just go and buy longer wiper as they all have different way of fitting (correct me of I'm wrong, this is my first car with Aero Wipers). At the moment, Octy has 600mm driver's side wiper. I'd like to upgrade to 650mm or even 700mm. It shouldn't be difficult thing to do. I've done it on my previous car by fitting longer blade and then adjusting driver's side wiper's position so when turned off it would stay just a few milimeters above the other side one (they can't stay the way they do now because there is no space). Again, 10 minutes job. My problem is where to look for longer wiper. If Octy has 600mm driver's side wiper does maybe Superb have longer one so I can buy that one? Can I go for aftermarket one (I doubt because of fitting)? I need to do it because it was raining yesterday and I didn't like it . I have to find solution quickly. Thanks to all. |

| Re: Octy II Front Wipers Upgrade And if you fit a longer drivers one wont you have to fit a shorter passenger one so they dont collide when at rest. Dont forget the Octavia 2 also have the alternative park position so they dont allways rest in the same place when re aligning them. |

As I said, if I go for longer one for driver's side I will not go for shorter one for passenger's side. What I'm going to do (like I did on my previous car) is to adjust position of the arm on driver's side. I mean, unscrew the nut that holds the arm and move the arm a bit upwards while in resting position. Arm in passenger's side can go a bit downwards. That way while in resting position they don't stay aligned but driver's one is few milimiters above the passenger's one. I've checked already, driver's one has enough room when it comes to final postion of wiping (I mean vertical, whole the way to the pillar) to go a bit further. There are still 3-4 cm of space. Now, they stay like this in resting position (left hand drive): ------------------------ ----------------------------------------------- After the upgrade should be like this: _________________--------------------------------------------------- | |

| Re: Octy II Front Wipers Upgrade I don't know how much the parking position for the blades changes, but it does change. After a few uses the blades will stop at slightly different positions in order to prolong the blades' lifetime. Also, it might be that both blades stop higher or lower simultaneously - I mean their distance from each other might not change with the "alternative parking position". But if the blades alternate their position independently from each other, then simply changing the alignment of the blades won't help. They would collide anyway. Anyone got any specifics on how the alternative parking position works?
