| Re: octy II I don't think that it is any noisier that my mate's new s-line A4 2.0 diesel. I was amazed at how much engine noise this car made compared to my 1.9 diesel octy II. |

| Re: octy II Good luck with the new motor! As for noise, yes it is more noisy than a petrol but not intrusive and then you just look at how slowly the fuel guage is going down to appreciate that slight increase in noise. Plus the extra power via torque yoi get. My new octy has already done 120 more miles than my petrol Avensis and I've just gone under a 1/4 tank left!

| Re: octy II I was worried about noise, so had the works done last July, when I wrote: "Well, I bit on the bullet and had Noisekiller come and work over our Octy Mk 2 2.0 TDi DSG estate. The guy certainly knew his stuff, though it was the first Octy 2 he had worked on. Everything he could reach was damped with high-tech materials - under both the boot floors, under the wheel arches, as much as he could get at of the bulkhead and the underside of the bonnet. Finally, he did some measuring and decided that as an optional extra he could fit an an acoustic blanket to the engine. This is the most low-tech thing you could imagine - a very heavy mass-loaded (lead?) fireproof mat which is secured by a couple of plastic ties at the front and simply drapes over the top and rear of the engine - about 2 feet wide by 3 feet long. "But the complete kit has made a real difference. The engine is much quieter at all speeds, but especially so on start-up, when the usual clatter is muted. And the whole car feels even more solid, with road noise being much less noticeable. "The cost? Well the basic kit, fitted in our driveway, was £310, and the additional acoustic blanket £50 - £360 in all. But I reckon it's well worth it, particularly if (like us) you intend to keep the car for a decade. Strongly recommended for those who appreciate peaceful motoring." Their contact is: Noisekiller UK - Contact Us After nine months, I'm still very pleased with the results. The biggest source by far is now tyre noise - on a modern porous surface almost silent, but on ridged concrete still quite objectionable. When the time comes eventually to replace the tyres, I'll be looking for the quietest possible. |

| Briskodian | Re: octy II I drive 2.0 TDI golfs fairly regularly, and my first impression of the Skoda was that it was noisier than the Golf. However you do get used to it and its acceptable when fully warmed up. |

| Briskodian | Re: octy II Hi had the car for a week and dont mind the engine noise too much just the road noise when on motorway and thanks for the info - really appreciate it > did the kit help with road noise from the wheels and is the cabin overall significantly quieter when going at motor way speeds amermanz |

| Re: octy II Compared to my Clio and my mates Ibiza the Octy II is very quiet even with 18" wheels on a vRS. It`s all relative I suppose and depends what car you are coming from.
