| Briskodian | Octy paint experts - help!! Look at the horrible match the Skoda dealer in India gave to my almost-new Octy2 which costs 30K GBP here! I am insisting that they should only use OEM formulation to correct the mess. But they are clueless and want to use same Standox/Dupont junk with some variation to get a better match. Skoda Plant in India imports pre-painted panels from Czech, so they also don't have a clue about the original paint formulation. Any Octy paint experts here - can you please tell me if there is any OEM formulation at all to be used by dealers? I can't believe they ruined my car and there is no way to clean the mess for sure! Please help! Thanks. |

| Re: Octy paint experts - help!! Is that stone grey? - if so I had the same problems in th UK to try to get a decent match. It took 3 attempts to get the replacement rear bumper to look reasonable, depending where you stood it either matched or didnt!! ![]() |

| Re: Octy paint experts - help!! I'll bet the same paint is used here and elsewhere: the difference is in the mixing, preperation, and application. |

| Briskodian | Re: Octy paint experts - help!! it is black magic pearl effect (code 9910), the car is octy2 L&K. the brown shade is the refinished part which should have been black. there is no 'official' formulation by the Skoda?? that is depressing :-( |

| Briskodian | Re: Octy paint experts - help!! Ohh that is what it is! Well if it's a new car and they have refinished that panel and can't get it right then in the UK I'd reject the car. IIRC that isn't exactly an easily replaceable panel either. I heard from an Indian ex that there is pretty much a no refunds policy where she was, but if this isn't true then I'd be looking for a different car as that one has obviously been damaged. What caused them to need to repaint it or whatever they did to make it brown in the first place?

| Briskodian | Re: Octy paint experts - help!! the new car was alright. i meant almost-new, less than 6 months. it got small palm-size dent on the wheel arch while parking during my ownership. i gave it for refinish during my first service (which is 6 months here) and they vandalized it. i am running from pillar to post to find out the OEM recipe, without which these dimwits can never match the color. I have even written to Skoda Czech, yet to hear from them. you are right about the consumer rights in India. there aren't any. we just learn from experiences and become extremely paranoid. it's an exciting life :-) |

Despite this, the UK dealers sell spray cans for the various colour codes - I'm wondering if you should tell your dealer to get one (or more) of these and give them a try. Not sure what coverage area you get from one can but I'm sure someone at your dealer or Skoda will tell you. ?koda Accessories (ignore the picture of the Roomster) Part number is HFB381034 according to the link.

| Briskodian | Re: Octy paint experts - help!! I'd let them have another go at it then as it can't be any worse and at least they are agreeing to do it. If you don't have any rights there is nothing else you can do. ![]()
