Octy Vrs fault code reset

i really sorry if this has been raised before i have a a quick scan through all the post and not much came up. i have a fault on my Octy that is intermittent and the garage cant find anything wrong with it. can i clear the fault codes form the ecu so when it happens again it is the only thing registered on the ecu so the garage can fix it .

Re: Octy Vrs fault code reset

Yes you can, but they will only spot it if it records a fault or there is a short enough time between the fault occuring and the car getting to them.

Remember if you clear fault codes (even if no codes are present) it will reset the readiness codes of the car and it will take two to three drive cycles for them to work themselves out again.

Re: Octy Vrs fault code reset

Surely if the fault registered it should be the last thing on there anyway.

Re: Octy Vrs fault code reset

i don't know anyone with vag com but the garage reckon it is something to do with the secondary exhaust system ??????? but they have changed all the pipes and the exhaust pump!!!!! i was going to have a play myself see if i could sort it thats why i need to reset it get the garage to read the code then try and fix it lol its happened about 3 times i take it to the garage and then after about three days the light comes back on! i know i have a small leak from the boost gauge i fitted that i have rectified thats why i want to reset the codes.

could someone explain more about theses readiness codes what to they do ????
