Default Removing headlamp

Hi,
Off to France for a couple of days at the weekend, and I'm trying to follow mrmajestyk's excellent guide to adjusting the lamps so they dip to the right so as not to dazzle our continental friends.

I've got the headlight unit half slid out of its mountings, BUT... I can't shift the electrical connector that fixes the wires to the headlamp unit - there's a catch that I just can't figure out.

Can anyone help me out? Apparently there's instructions in the handbook, but mine is missing - on order from the dealer.

OK, managed it, just.

But for anyone else thinking of adjusting the headlamps so they dip to the right, it's not necessary to remove the headlamp completely.

Slide it out, leave the electrical connectors intact. There's enough slack to be able to remove the plastic cover at the back of the headlamp unit and get a small screwdriver in to twist the little black lever.

Glad I had a go now, before attempting it for the first time inside the Euro tunnel though.

Bit sad answering your own posts, but there you go... might be useful for someone.

I've got the handbook but I can't figure out how to release the connector catch. How did you do it?

If it is short term and for non Xenon headlamps you can use the Halfords own brand stick on continental converters. they work a treat.

Thanks Andy, but no it isn't, because it doesn't show how to release the connector, and anyway the one in the picture looks different to mine which is the ordinary 12V type. (Is it the Xenon HID version in the picture?)

I managed to do the change without disconnecting the lamp units - I used to own a Vectra and you had to dismantle bits of the engine to change the headlight bulbs on that, unless you wanted to remove the whole front bumper and skirt - so although it was a fiddle it wasn't that bad.

Would still like to know how to do it properly though.

Thanks.

Pull the tag back and hold it back, push and then pull the connector.
