Scratch removal - best method? My 5 year old daughter helped wash my car yesterday - unfortunately she managed to push her sponge out of reach on the bonnet. Before i'd noticed she had decided to drag the hose pipe up over the wing to give herself extra reach. ![]() Result: light scratches to the wing/body area I've never really bothered with issues like this before - scratches didn't show that much on my previous MKI Octavia 4x4 in silver, but my new Race Blue vrs is a different matter. "Polish the scratches out" is what i'm told - is this the best method? Any prefered polishes people use?, coloured ones? Any advice appreciated - nothing to technical though....nice and simple is best with me and cars Thanks in advance.

Re: Scratch removal - best method? Another great, almost magic, product is Duraglit Brasso wadding - we've mentioned it on here before. Even though it is nothing to do with cars, it will polish out really bad scratches, then buff over with a good wax. Solvol Autosol brings back memories of my motorbike days - 1960's - used to be used for chrome cleaning as well.

Re: Scratch removal - best method? I've used "Scratch X" a couple of times to remove scratches caused by things such as hose pipes etc.... Works a treat. Cheers Dave.

You can get samples of both from a uk company called autoperfection. Scratch-X IMHO has almost no effect at all on VAG paint.

| Re: Scratch removal - best method? I had to use Chipsaway when my daughter (2 years old at the time) drew circles on the wing, bonnet and door of my freshly polished Black Magic Leon - with a stone. They used a polish of some description to do it and only charged £30. "Don't worry Daddy...... you can wash it off if you like" .... it was the pure innocence of that comment that saved her a sound thrashing!!!

Re: Scratch removal - best method? One area I am finding micro scratching is in the region of the driver's door handle to the point where in the well of the handle the paint could be worn away. This is a bit concerning as in reality the door does not get excessive use as I barely do over 7000 miles in a year. I will give the area a work over using one of the above remedies.

I'd still suggest 3M extra fine with an MF for that though.
