| Re: service interval reset I you wish to remain on variable servicing then it needs to be reset by a dealer. However dealers are under instructiion not to reset them unless a service has been carried out. |

| Re: service interval reset IIRC the service counter will be blank for a time until the computer has calculated the next service interval based on driving style. This only applies on the QG1 variable service regime.

| Re: service interval reset The service timer is calculated using several parameters from the engine sensors including oil quality and soot content.

| Re: service interval reset The car needs to calculate a service interval, when the car is set on variable service it looks at things like soot quantity in the oil, oil quality and engine thermal load etc etc and from all of this data it will work out when the car needs it's next service. This takes a little time as it needs to 'watch' how the car is driven (gently or thrashed) to determine a service interval, it can vary hugely from something like 9000 miles right up to 20,000 miles. I can't remember off hand how long this takes, could be as much as 500 miles.

| Re: service interval reset If your car left the factory with 30k interals then it should stay on that. But not all diesels do. Cars leaving the factory have been altered so that is above board. |

| Briskodian | Re: service interval reset Bump. I have an almost 3y old, almost 40k mile old Octavia 1.6 FSI petrol manual. Put in fresh Mobil oil yesterday and forgot I no longer have Autodata accessible to remind me the service interval reset procedure. HELP? It's on 10k miles fixed service intervals, so no problem resetting it by hand.
