| Service Now warning I had the owner of my old car driving mine today, we went down for petrol. I normally reset the mileage trip, I must have done it as he started the car as the Service Now warning came up. Now I had a quick look at the manual and it mention something about showing the miles till service, but the figures looked the same as they did before I pressed it, ie total mileage and trip mileage. By any chance may I have reset the service indicator ?

| Re: Service Now warning Yep you have fudged up the service indicator. Will need to be reprogrammed by your dealer. |

| Re: Service Now warning Not on the octy 2, just holding it down resets it to fixed. Fixed on the Octavia 2 is a different fixed scheme to the Octy 1. 10,000 miles oil and filter only 20,000 miles/2 years bi-annual inspection There is no 1 year service. |

| Re: Service Now warning I did this too at about 2,500 miles. You all had a right laugh at me too at the time if I remember correctly. I held down the reset button and turned on the ignition. Thought it was cool cos it told me how long and how many miles to the next service. But after i did it a couple of times, 'service now' came up instead. I was on variable servicing, had switched myself over to fixed by accident and it didnt seem to allow me to switch it back. But I only do about 9 or 10k a year so i'm happy enough. The lease company may not be that happy about my car being serviced at 10k but given all the short trips and town driving I do, as little as 10k is probably possible before the service indicator comes up, even on variable servicing. Ross might correct me here but I think it's just a quick way to switch to fixed if the customer wants it as all new motors are variable as standard unless you specify otherwise when ordering I think. If thats the case Colm you wont have done any harm as you are on fixed anyway. Even if you have reset the service indictor and will now have to wait to 12,500 miles instead 10,000 for the service indicator to come up, chances are you have the original long life oil in your car so should be fine. Unless of course your car came from the factory as fixed servicing. You should check codes on the sticker inside your owners manual for this.

| Re: Service Now warning Thanks for the info guys. Mine was on Variable from the factory and my dealer changed it to fixed for me (he did say it was on variable), I thought it better due to the short journeys I do. To be honest it was purely accidental the first time I done it, but after seeing the display come up I tried it again (when I seen the message I got a little worried and thought what I did might explain the warning message, so I did it again.) In the manual it says that to reset it you must turn the reset button to the right AFTER pressing and holding reset button, to get it to reset service interval. I definitely didn't turn the button to the right the first time, I just held it in, but I might have the second time or was it the third time when I seen in the manual that doing it showed miles left, sure when I didn't see the miles left I moved it right & left to find it ....oops. No harm done, I'll just bring it to dealer when it gets to 10k.
