Servicing Question

I'm coming up to my 2nd Service on the Variable Scheme, which is fine about 35,000 miles now

My little Spanner symbol came up this morning, so i know i have a few days etc til it needs to be done.

However, this sunday i am off to Saudi Arabia for about 3 weeks, and SWMBO is due to be using the vRS whilst i'm away (she is included on the Company Insurance)

But due to other insurance implications, we believe she can't use a Courtesy Car - and she doesnt have the ability to hang around with the car for a day, so question is;

If we leave the spanner doing it's little startup flash, what happens once the "countdown" finishes? Does the light just stay on permanently? or does the car go into limp mode?

Basically, what happens when the countdown runs out?

Re: Servicing Question

Normally Courtsey car insurance is done by the dealer, or it is at ours.

Re: Servicing Question

I don't think the car goes into limp mode. The spanner is just a warning light to remind you to get it done. It makes no difference to the running of the car usually.

Re: Servicing Question

To answer to strings, i'm currently driving round in a courtesy Fabia which is insured by the dealer's blanket policy and the spanner ligh is on the dash quite happily binging away when you get in. So there's no worries by the sound of it.

Re: Servicing Question

There should be no problem, I ran mine with "Service Now" on the maxidot for 600 miles. This was the earliest the garage could fit my car in.

Re: Servicing Question

spanner is just to remind you that service is due and wont affect the drive.
