Question Silly question?

Hi all,

I have been looking at the new Octavia range and have noticed that some cars have Fabric covered A/B pilars but most only have the bare plastic. I have looked at 2 Elegance models both with full leather etc. One had fabric the other didn't.

Is it part of a special option or something?

Cheers

My Octy 2 Elegance estate has plastic. Was disappointed at first but convinced myself that it will be easier to keep clean.

Cheers for the input,

I know it's a bit of a trivial thing to be asking about buy my wife has a real hang-up about it, as She would like a next car to be an A4 as I had one before the L&K and is looking for any excuse not to buy another Octavia.

Does seem a bit strange though, that fabric covered pillars randomly appear??

After checking it turns out im wrong... Classic has plastic... I'd honestly thought it was fabric and I've been driving it for 9 months, so make of that what you will

I think the fabric covered pillars are fitted to cars with curtain airbags. Not 100% certain on that so dont take it as gospel.

Off at a tangent - how do you like ESP? Do you notice the difference off/on? I am trying to decide if to get it or not on my new Octy L&K 2.0 TDi DSG Estate.

I could well be right then, all I know is the trims have to act in a certian way when the bags blow, hard plastic trims may not do this.

I've ordered esp and airbags on my octavia. As i understand it it only really kicks in when you are on the verge of losing control of the vehicle so under normal driving conditions there should be no difference in the way the car feels and handles. I think its sad that people will spend thousands on a new car, hundreds on an upgraded stereo or fancy alloys but then won't spend a relatively small amount on something that could possibly save their life. Lets not forget the octavia is a family car. Everyone seems to think that accidents only happen to other people. For the sake of a few quid, I didn't want to be in the position of thinking - if only.

Afraid I can't answer that. I always have ESP switched on so I don't know what it's like without it. Reading thru all the blurb before I placed my order, ESP seemed like a good thing to have, at a reasonable price.
