My Octavia II is not fitted with rear speakers
What is the size of rear speaker on , how to install them

i just bought a new Octavia Classic 2008 and i just noticed it doesnt have rearspeakers on the door even though you can tuned on the radio tha balanca betwen front and rear, i also want to buy and install new speakers but i dont know the size that will fit the door rear speaker and also the type recommended... can you guys helps us?

Hi guys,

That factory fitted speakers are 5.25-inch in diameter with 18mm tweeters (with integral in-line crossovers) mounted in to upper position. However, if you are installing a pair of aftermarket speakers you can easily fit up to 65.-inch in size thanks to very large standard door holes (no cutting required) and all you will need a one 16mm or 18mm MDF wood spacer behind the speaker. Since the rear glass does not wind down all the way to behind the speakers there are no depth issues to worry about.

Nice! Can you explain what the speaker set ups are in the octy in relation to the amount you get, not where they are? I've seen it bandied about that some people opted for some sort of 12 speaker upgrade (extra 4 over what appears to be a standard 8) and i'm curious if my just built L&K will come with that or with just 8 as I didn't have an option for more speakers given to me. Will it come with 12, do they not do that on octys anymore, or what is the score exactly?

If you can get your hands on 2 front speakers, will they fit the rear, and is the wiring there or would that need to be added

I can't speak for every version of the Octy II sold world wide but certainly the Australian version is only offered with the Audience source unit and four speakers. The four speakers are two pairs of full range speakers (7-inch in rear of front doors, 5.25-inch in rear doors) and two pairs of 19mm soft dome tweeters.

When you remove the door cards you will see provision for the other four speakers to total 12. These are two pairs of small midrange speakers to fill in the gap between tweeters and full range speakers, while the front pair also improve the sound dispersion up front by pulling sounds forwards.

I have replaced the factory speakers in my Octy II VRs wagon with Focal Be 3-way that use a similar position as the factory option for the smaller midrange. This works well.

I have heard on this forum that the 12 speaker upgrade has been deleted as an option but I can't confirm for sure that this is true. All I know is that the Aussie version doesn't offer this even though the standard kit on our VRs is quite high in spec compared to UK versions. We get 18" wheels, big box, rear parking sensors, alarm and other niceties as standard (but pay for it) whereas these are all options in the UK. Since the 12 speaker stereo is not offered here at all (Nav is only option and is $3,000AUS, or around 1500 pounds) maybe the deleted option is true?
