Angry Skoda Octavia - Sat Nav problems

In September 2007 I took delivery of a new Skoda Octavia Est. L&G with the Sat Nav option. Although the Skoda Sat Nav has TMC (Traffic Message Channel) to show road delays, the car was shipped with a non-TMC disc, very helpful. Skoda sent a TMC enabled disc, but the disc was faulty in that all UK "B" roads were displayed and announced as "A" roads, very confusing!!!

I waited until late June 2008, when a new disc arrived, but this disc shows all UK "A" roads as "B" roads, and even more weird some Motorways as "B" roads, even more confusing !!!!

Now, 9 months after I took delivery, Skoda (and TeleAtlas) are still thinking about how to resolve the problem. Surely factory fitted Sat Nav systems should be better than this and what happened to quality control ??

You have my sympathies mate. I can assure you that you are not alone. I am into month three awaiting a replacement Columbus unit. It took less time build and deliver the car!!!

Re: Skoda Octavia - Sat Nav problems

The problem is not with the MFD2 itself, but the mapping disk. The issue also seems to exist, another member on here purchased the latest disk and reported that even this disk the system announces A roads as B roads. Its also not just a skoda thing, the same nav system is fitted to VW and Audi cars.

If they can't sort it what about suggesting they upgrade you to a Columbus?

Re: Skoda Octavia - Sat Nav problems

I have the same issue... The retailer will accept return for a full refund.
I am still waiting for another member to let me know how they get on. Checking his System Info it is more up to date then mine

Check thread

I may just go back to using the 2007/08 CD that did not show this problem.

Re: Skoda Octavia - Sat Nav problems

My new one is messed up aswell (2008/2009 UK+MRE+iTMC)

I phoned Teleatlas and they are aware of new disc (few weeks old) is messed up and are investigating.

They offered to take my email and send a update/new CD when it is sorted.

I will probably just send it back to dealer (Blue Spot aswell)
