Skoda Sat Nav.

Does anyone know who does the mapping for the SatNav system for the Skodas, as I currently have a TomTom one in my current car and I regularly download the Speed Camera database from Pocketgpsworld and I'd like to do the same, if I have it installed into my car, by knowing the mapping & orignal source it should mean that I can download & install the right files.

If you don't find the answer here, have a look at VWNavi.com - Your Source for Satellite Navigation Systems in VAG Automobiles.

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

TeleAtlas do the mapping discs for the Skoda MFD systems.

You'll have a hard time trying to add speed camera sites to it as it's CD-ROM only and i'm not sure about the POI capabilities of the system. Assuming the camera sites are stored as POI's. Mine used to be on my Navman.

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

Sorry about the somewhat negative response but the MFD (MFD2 on Octy II) is quite an old system nowadays and doesn't have the capabilities of the 'sucker' based systems i'm afraid. The biggest plus is the OEM look it provides and the integration with the car but there's not much else going for it.

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

I've just used my MFD2 to get me to Prague and back without so much as a hitch.

I had dynamic routing for traffic jams etc courtesy of TMC and it took me right to the door of my hotels and even knew which gate number I was at in the Skoda Factory.

Ok, so it isn't the most modern system in the world, but get an up to date map and it's more than adequate.

You could always get yourself an RNS 510!!!

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

Well all this looks like it's going to come to now't anyway, I've just been hit with 2 exceptionally large bills adding up to £4k, one was an outstanding loan & the other was a series of outstanding CC bills, Council Tax & other debts, so that has now wiped me out of the new car market for the foreseeable future.

At least I'm nearly debt free, but it's going to take me at least 6 months if not more to get that back, so I guess I'll just keep on plodding along with my old Pug!

Which courtesy of Surrey CC inept highways bods suffered a severely damaged front wheel & a damaged (nearly new) low profile tyre! when I hit a 6" deep pothole this weekend, so now even more expense!

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

If I were you Wazza, I'd get a photo of the offending pothole if possible, and then send it to the council together with the bill and demand payment. They are known to pay up for these incidents occasionally.

It has to be worth a go mate. There are limits as to how big/deep a pot hole can be before its considered their negligence in maintaining the highway.

6 months'll soon pass

Re: Skoda Sat Nav.

I think you'll find putting a ruler or measuring tape in the pothole to show depth size etc soon makes them sit up and take notice
