| Briskodian | soft paint peeps i've a diamond sliver metallic my06 octy and i seem to be getting a fair few scratches down the nearside doors, i believe it's caused by hedgerow along one of the roads i've to take in relation to work a couple of days a week. there's nothing i can do about the route, and the marks polish out with just the lightest touch of t-cut, but my question would be: the paint would be appear to be rather soft, as it marks so easy, has anyone else any experiences/problems like this, or any advice? cheers. |

| Re: soft paint My friends' gunmetal grey Leon does exactly the same thing (he has close encounters with hedges on his commute too), I think VAG paint might just be a bit soft?

| Fabian | Re: soft paint You might find Meguiars Scratch-X to be better then T-Cut, because it's one of those abrasives that breaks down to a finer abrasive the more it is rubbed. So it's less likely to take too much of the clear coat off. |

| Briskodian | Re: soft paint cheers for the info peeps, i am seriously thinking about taking it back to the dealer (my previous car, a sliver vectra, never had this problem). harry_vrs: do you have to t-cut/polish it much to remove the marks? |

| Re: soft paint I've tried polishing it but its a full on chip that goes right down, felt like a boulder had hit my car when it happened It's quite noticeable too, so might be a job for Chipsaway. |

| Re: soft paint I was under the impression that vag paint is very hard, that's why it chips easily.

| Briskodian | Re: soft paint If it's any consolation, I've had two Bm's and two Skoda vRSs and without a doubt the paint on the BMs marks more easily |
