Solutions finance, part-ex'ing and broker matching

Well, i haven't been on this site since getting rid of my last skoda quite a while ago, however, i'm back and looking at the possibility of getting a Octavia vRS (diesel).

I had a few queries though...

1) The 'Solutions' finance package - in what situation would this be a good option... any fans of it? anyone who isn't a fan?

2) Part ex'ing and getting a broker price-match -- is this still 'feasible'? I know before i got a brand new Fabia vRS price matched with DTD and a part-ex, but this was in March 2006... have things changed in the market much?

Opinions welcome

A lot depends on your personal circumstances, if you have a deposit and how much you want to pay per month etc.

Re: Solutions finance, part-ex'ing and broker matching

For some reason Skoda UK offer the Solutions deal on the Octavia at 8.5% whereas for all other models it's 6.9% (except new Superb which is also 8.5%) - probably doesn't make a huge difference though.

I got mine when it was 5.5% and 3 years / 30K miles free servicing as well.

Me too. I owned my previous Octy so I traded it and took the money back out to pay off of my Mortgage which was a higher rate than the 5.5 Solutions rate

Re: Solutions finance, part-ex'ing and broker matching

if you change your car every 3 years then soloutions is for you

if you want what is a 5 year hp deal squashed into 3 years, its for you

if you change before 3 years, mod your cars, or do high miles then its not for you

as far as px and getting a dealer to match a broker price they can do it, but you will only get what the px is worth trade, nothing more. as the dealer looses his margins when doing a broker price he cant off set any short fall in selling your px. so he would have to play it safe with the valuation, even if he can forecourt it.

also dont forget the use car market for traders is going to hit hard times next month as the prices are due to fall more than normal.

as long as you go into a dealer and be honest and forthcoming about what prices youve seen, they wont feel like your just using them for a test drive and a free valuation service and be more likely to try and do a skinny deal with you. but if you go there and at the last minute pull the broker price out you wont have gained anything. dont expect a dealer to match the price but hope they can at least get close to it and still make it worthwhile to do.

have you had a look at the new vrs common rail version? mmmmm!!

Re: Solutions finance, part-ex'ing and broker matching

nice one - cheers all, especially woodenspatulas

i always say i will keep my car for the full 'term' but always end up part-exing it after about a year

i'd keep my current car if it wasn't for the fact i get wobbly when it gets to 'MOT' time - i also do high(ish) mileage (18k) however the thinking behind getting a brand new vRS is 'what more could i need' and i genuinely feel i'd keep hold of this one for a while...

once again, thanks for the honest response - the salesman said it would be worthwhile if i like changing my car but for some reason i don't trust salesmen hence wanting to gauge a bit of opinion off here
