Someone has damaged my wheel arch

Noticed this morning damage to my rear passenger side wheel arch. Looks like someone scraped past. It has completely wrecked the clear plastic sticky back cover that is on there. Its luckily it has that on for protection really.

I only drive to work and back and the odd trip to Tesco so must have happened on Tescos car park.

Is this protector replaceable and if so how much do you think I am looking at?

Heres a picture of the damage. I am planning to cut part of the protector off tonight to assess how much damage to the actual paintwork there is.

Really annoying I know, but it looks like the film did its job. I would hope a dealer would let you have the part for not much. Cutting a replacement piece of film to shape would be hard to do well I think.

Re: Someone has damaged my wheel arch

I believe you get them in pairs. I had a very similar Tesco-Scrape a year or so ago but the culprit was seen and admitted liability. Would you believe it, his son was a local car repairer/customiser/sprayer!

Did a good freebie job and had to replace one of those plastic films, which he got as a pair from the local VW people I think - not sure about that.
Good job there were 2 because he didn't like his first effort, took it off and put the second one on. Seems fine now.

IIRC it's a 3M film that anyone can buy, but i'd be sure you can do it as body shops replace it on cars after accident damage.

Looks like slight rubbing on the edge and a nick at the front so a minute amount of touch up paint might be needed.

Try some 3M extra fine or megs scratch X on it

It looks worse than it proberbly is. Give it wash, and then get a good polish and put some elbow greese in. When I was rear ended my car looked simillar, however 1/2 hour later with polish and cloth and you would never know anything had happened.

Re: Someone has damaged my wheel arch

i think after a good buff up with cutting compound and polish it won,t be noticeable especially on silver paintwork.

Re: Someone has damaged my wheel arch

Thanks for the replies guys. Tcut scratch remover has done wonders to the few scuffs that were on the door. I think it will be absolutely fine under the film.

I will wait until I get paid then I will replace the film.

Phoned Skoda and they come in a set of 4 for £30

Re: Someone has damaged my wheel arch

You can buy the film as a sheet, but to be fair £30 isn't too bad and I'd be cheeky and ask if they can do you anything off
