Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

Has anyone experienced this?

I've started to have a sort of squeeky rattle from the passenger side end of the dashboard. It sounds like it's coming somewhere around the area where the A-pillar meets the dashboard.

It sounds like a rubber against plastic kind of rattling sound.

Any help fixing it would be nice, it's starting to drive me crazy.

Anything glove box related?

The passenger seatbelt metalwork on mine rattles against the b pillar which annoys the hell out of me.

Raising the belt pivot up to its highest setting seems to cure this. Agree it's naff though...

I had one, check the cover on the side of the dash, make sure all the clips are attached. One of mine popped off at some stage and got stuck.
Also the mesh on the dash was known to cause problems.

Yes, possibly as the sound is coming from A-pillar and dash junction.

I've taken the cover off and all the clips seem to be ok. I'll double check. I've tried to lubricate all the junctioning pieces etc. with silicone, but that only seems to quiet it down for a while.

I don't think it's the mesh, it should make a more metallic rattling sound, shouldn't it?

Re: Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

I'm intending to place a small self-adhesive foam pad on the b-pillar plastic panel where the seat belt clip is knocking against it.

Try closing the door with a cloth between door card and dash, I had issues in this area.

Ok, thanks. I'll try that.

I had a self-adhesive foam pad between the dash end and door card, but that made it sound a lot worse. Maybe there was too little pressure to too small area?

Re: Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

I have had exactly the same issue.
The dealer originally replaced the heater mesh vents as this was a known issue.

This did not resolve the issue.

So i removed the equivilent of the fuse box cover (passenger side obviously) and this resolved the issue.

so it may be (like me) that the cover is rubbing against the A pillar cover.

If so, try inserting some felt etc.... between the a pillar and fuse cover

good luck.

does your window squeak when you open and lower it, my drivers one did and after lubing it went away. The squeak would occur after going over bumps.

Re: Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

Ok, the cause for the squeek is found. It's actually coming from the door card around the tweeter area, because if you gently press the tweeter grille the squeeks stop.
So I'll have to start dismantle it and look for a ways to reinforce it so that it doesn't squeek anymore.

i had this on mine, take off the cover at the side and reclip it into place, if this doesnt work a good expertly placed whack solved it for me.

Take it handy when taking tweeter off as it can break easily.

I know thanks, I've already taken everything apart once, when I installed the door handle illumination leds. Maybe something didn't go properly in it's place and that's causing the extra squeeks and rattles ?

Re: Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

Alrighty then, problem solved. I re-adjusted the door locks and now everything is fine. The doors close more sturdy as an added bonus Sounds more like a safe closing now

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes I did say that. But now that the door closes more tighter, it squeezes the door card more which in turn stopped the rattles. It's not completely quiet, it still makes a high pitched rubbing sound at some point, but that's random.

You can adjust the door position by adjusting the lock latches on the car body. It has two M8 screws which you unscrew just a little bit so that the latch can be moved. Then just move it a little bit, tighten the screws and test the door closing, if it's ok tighten the screws fully and you're done.

Take note that you can adjust the door up/down and in/out position with this latch adjustment.

Re: Squeeky rattle from passenger side dashboard?

I've got a dozen sounds like that one

I found the major one was the under seat storage box plastic rubbing against the leather

Did you need to move it much?

Not much, less than 1 cm. Best part really is that now the front doors close much more tighter than before.
Actually before, my front doors where not completely in line with the back doors. You could see that the fronts were a little bit more out. Up/down position was fine.
Also the latches were not straight, which caused a "clang" sound when closing the drivers door. Now when it's straight, all you can hear is "thump" when the door closes
