Starting sometime takes several times

Anyone know about or had this?
Octy II 2.0 TDI DSG starting from cold (cold but during a warm day approx 20 degC). Turn the key, glow-plug light comes on for about 1 sec (seems normal) then try to start, ...it catches for a millisecond then dies.
Sometimes it starts on the next go, sometimes after several more try's.
There is plenty of fuel in it, battery is excellent and the car is fairly recent (June '06), low mileage (8500 mls).
The reason I'm asking as I don't know the car very well yet, (not had it long), and as it's my first Skoda-VAG Tdi I'm unfamiliar with them.
What I have done though is to run a VAG-COM fault code check and found nothing. (No, I haven't been indescriminately playing with the VAG-COM programming!!

Thanks.

Re: Starting sometime takes several times

Its still under Skoda warranty so take it to the dealers. It could be a multitude of things, electrical, fuel leak etc but why worry when they should sort it FOC
