Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

Evening,

Just had a quick look on eBay for a Line In / MP3 adapter to fit a Stream MP3...

Some may remember I had a rather unsuccessful attempt at this earlier in the year but I though it was time to give I had another go since I now have another stereo - a Stream MP3.

Can anybody recommend me one which will give me the standard set of phono / 3.5mm jack connection please?

The ones I've found just have some kind of in-line gubbins - the one I had before was a small box with some electronics to fool it into thinking there was a changer attached...

Re: Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

No need for any electrical magic if you have a stream mp3 - if has dedicated pins for AUX input on the back. There's at least a couple of posts covering this in the first few pages of threads at the moment

Re: Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

I don't think that connector will work, that is for a Mk1 Octavia by the looks of it. The adaptor you need is rectangular.

Have a look at Stu's site and you'll see the back of the Stream MP3 head unit at the bottom of the page.

As for part numbers and the like I don't have ETKA so I can't help you there i'm afraid.

EDIT: just had another look and it WONT work as the Stream MP3 uses a Quadlock connector.

I've attached a pic of the Audience MP3 connections as the two units are more or less identical in that department and you can see the tiny pins at the top are where the AUX connector and CD changer connect.

Re: Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

Hi all,

Sorry to go back to this again - I've had a look at eBay but cannot seem to find the correct adapter / cable.

Basically I have a Stream MP3 with (I believe) quad lock connections. I need a quadlock connector to 3.5mm jack plug in order to connect an MP3 player.

Can somebody here have a quick look on eBay and find me the correct part I need please?

As I say - I've looked already but can't find the correct one for my needs...

Re: Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

Ahh cool - a DIY jobbie!

COuple of questions - what's special about the VW lead? Is it just the pin connectors on the end where you plug into the quadlock? Or something else?

What do you mean by:

"Once done put the bllack block back into the blue. tape the wires so they dont show any bare bits and fuse and tape to the wiriing loom so it is safe."

Fuse????

when you take the stereo out and pull out the blue block you will see the blue block then needs to be split again as the black block goes into the blue block (all is apparent when you see the block).

tape the wires up so no bare wires are showing so it doesnt fuse (short circuit) and cause it to cause a fire or blue fuses or anything else that can happen when bare wires touch.

Re: Stream MP3 Line In / Aux Adapter

If you butcher your wiring loom/connectors and a problem did arise with the electrics of the vehicle, would Skoda turn round and say 'sorry warranty void'?

Ahh - thats what I thought!

Do you really need the VW wire - surely all you are doing here is connecting some wire to the AUX pins?

You need 2x 000979010 then cut in the middle so you can have 3 pins (with wires) to attach the mp3 lead to as there are no pins in the block you need to add them.

Gotch ya...

Is that part number the same for Skoda? I've had a search around the web and it seams to be a generic part number for a number of manufacturers...
