Stream Radio - Info

Just for information -

Have just got my old (3 months - so not that old) Stream radio replaced with a completly new Stream radio. The new one is not identical with the old one (buttons are placed differently) so it's not just a SW update - it seems like Skoda in Denmark will replace the Stream radio in cars where the owner has complained.

During the replacement at the garage I noticed that new models are now being delivered with a Blaupunkt Caracas as standard (radio + tape - thought this was completly outdated) must be instead of the audience radio.

Have any similar experiences ??

Not that I'm aware of, all UK spec cars Iv'e seen have had the cd player upfront and the optional boot mounted changer where fitted.

Skoda Uk give all models the Stream radio CD. Obviously you can replace that with any radion you want, but there is a Skoda branded tape player in in the UK accessories brochure.

We, here in Denmark, are taxed 180% on our cars, so that is why we get the Octavia delievered from the factory withour any radio, and then Skoda Denmark puts in the cheapest one available. If you want a Stream radio without the taxes it costs around 400£, if it is placed in the car after delievery, about 800£. So to keep the cars as cheep as possible, they sell it without the original radio.

Is its performance better than the original?

Re: Stream Radio - Info

My one month old Octavia L&K had a complete faliure of the Stream but 24 hours later it came back to life. Since then the auto reduction in vlume when reversing has stopped working. The delaer tried to upgrade the sw today but found mine had newere sw than the "update" so he has ordered a totally new unit.
