| Toyo Proxes T1-R Just had a set of these in 235 40 R18 form fitted to the front wheels of my car, and after a spirited run I'd just thought I'd have to share my findings with you. These tyres are absolutely outstanding. The amount of grip in the dry is somewhat abnormal. The handling has been totally transformed compared to my Continental Sport Contact 2's which were shredded in just 7k miles. Noise is dramatically reduced too. Traction is stunning, a full launch being dealt with no wheelspin (although that might be down to the driver ![]() )Bit of a pointless thread tbh, but if you are near to changing your rubber, I'd definately consider these if they are in your price range. I paid £126 each for mine including fitting etc. Also bear in mind that the 235 size will throw the speedo out just a little, but not by much. Very much recommended. |

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R I need a set all round VERY soon and am torn between the untried but cheap Falken 452's or the tried and tested Toyo's but have got about a month to make my mind up!. I am interested in the increased 235 profile as I know that Dave did this with his too, can you post up a close piccy's sometime as I want to see how they 'fit' to the rim. Also, what effect does it have on the speedo, speed it up or slow it down (it's late and my brain cant seem to fathom it out ).

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R 235 tyre will marginally slow it down over say a 225 tyre. Difference between 225 and 235 tyre is the speedo will under-read by only 1.26% (i.e at actual 70mph before, you'll actually be at 70.88 )

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R I have Toyos on the 4x4, IMO an outstanding tyre for the cost. The only problem I have is I cant seem to get over 10000 miles out of them, am I doing something wrong ![]()

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R Just beware when running wider tyres, you will suffer from extra sidewall flex, and could destroy the sidewalls (like my kumhos when i was running 215's on the furby) |

| Briskodian | Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R I ran T1-R's for the last 2 1/2 years and have just changed to the Falken 452's. I feel they are not quite as grippy at the front but as I dont drive on the limits the difference (for me) is negligable. |

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R I had T1-R's in 205/45/16 format on my Fabia. Yep, grippy, especially if you get them really hot with really hard cornering repeatedly. They literally get sticky! Wet performance I found them to be average really, their biggest 'fault' is that they do wear quickly - got 7000 miles out of my last set. But, as my friend who competes in rallying says, "if they're not wearing out quickly, they're not gripping enough". ![]()

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R Have Hankook Ventus on standard Fabia vRS - according to mytyres reviews and Tyre summer : tyre selling summer any brand they are rated pretty highly for virtually everything (except the usual - Snow). Were £52 each delivered from MyTyres. Too soon to tell yet about wear but quieter than original Michelins, grippy in dry and wet and when they do let go in the wet are nice and very progressive. Well impressed at the price.

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R Ill endorse the t1rs. Had a set on my Fabia for 17k and they were brilliant in all conditions. They also have done two track days and again they were brilliant, none of that liquid rubber feeling after 5 laps BTW the set I still have on a spare set of wheels after all that still have enough tread to do another track day. Top stuff ![]() |

| Re: Toyo Proxes T1-R Quote:
![]() Got 15k out of my T1-Rs on the front, and the rears have worn so little that the shoulders still haven't even worn down as far as the little groove just beside the V-shaped tread sections (if you have some, you'll know what I mean!) In fact, the rears are still so fresh that the guy at tyre place said I shouldn't even bother switching them onto the front and putting the new ones on the back, as he reckoned the rears were so little-worn that their grip wouldn't be any worse than if they were new... The Proxeses are MUCH better than the Primacies mine came with, that's for sure!!!

Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres - R18" - 225/40/18, 225/40 R 18 - 225/40/18 £89 each delivered Have used these guys for tyres for quite a while now, look out for discounts on 4s and you can get them fitted for around £5-£10 each at a local tyre fitter. Used T1-Ss and now Rs on my FTO since I have had it (7 years) and have always found them to be outstanding. Did swap once, but the tyres I went to were worse than the almost slick T1-Ss I took off so had to invest in more Toyo's. Have been known to get under 5K out of a set of T1-Ss on the front :o Mark Last edited by MarkyW; 07-12-2007 at 22:55. Reason: more information |
