| Briskodian | vRS diesel fuel consumption Hi Anyone with an Octavia vRS diesel that's been run in? I'm wondering what fuel consumption I can expect. According Comcar Company car tax guides the fuel consumption should be 48.7mpg. Is this realistic? Thanks Ade |

| Re: vRS diesel fuel consumption Not a VRS , but my PD140 certainly manages the manufacturers quoted figures. It was a bit low at first but after 6k miles or so it had loosened up and gets me an average of 52 when driven sensibly. I'd expect the VRS to manage high 40s when it's not being thrashed

| Briskodian | Re: vRS diesel fuel consumption Yes, hoping for high forties - only some of the post here seem to have been considerably lower. But then the MPG from a test drive when it's being ragged isn't realistic. My current (105,000 mile) BMW 320 diesel according to the OBC returns about 49 mpg - that's from a mixture of mostly motorway, A & B road and a bit of stop start driving. |

| Re: vRS diesel fuel consumption On daily drives I don't think that should be too much of a challenge. I used to get about 55mpg average in my older 110bhp 1.9TDI octavia with a best on my journey back from work of 62. To be only about 3mpg off the average and best figures in the significantly faster and heavier Mk2 seems good to me and there's no reason why the PD170 should be much worse when driven in the same way. You might be a bit nervous when you first get it as I got at least 10% less than I do now , but once it's run in things improve a lot.

| Briskodian | Re: vRS diesel fuel consumption See the other thread regarding the woes of my friends 2 week old Octy Vrs diesel, but in the 270 miles he manged to drive before it expired without trace, he managed a not particulary impressive average of 39mpg apparently...mixed driving but without pushing it too hard understandably. |
