I believe they change the springs to enhance handling - that was what plod told me at GTi International.

That and usually to assist with the mass of equipment usually carried in these cars.

I saw that yesterday.
Silver 56 plate with all the lights on in the back window giving some poor chap a ticket on the road to the M3 in Basingstoke J6.

I'd love some of those discreet blue flashing lights behind my grill to get people out of my way on the motorway

Cool Re: vRS Occy II Unmarked Police Car - M3

sorry to be a contradictory pain, but it looks low due to the weight of kit in it. Traffic cars and area cars have no extra bits on them, nothing is changed. It would be low due to the kit, not changed springs.

I drove a Sussex Police area car for 6 years, a 2 litre mundane-o which understeered for england

plod at gti probably was either talking out of his arras (no - really??) or was trying to put the frighteners on with the look how great we are speech!

Interesting. Maybe it was the weight of the donuts then . Seriously though it looked low at the back AND front (the tyres where literally tucked under the arches...)

I've found that just having a Silver one full stop does the trick - especialy if your en route to work with a light blue or white shirt on matched with a smart dark coloured tie

Maybe just your force Billy, but some do have add ons. IIRC these had custom code work done whilst at jbs some time ago.

Again only hear-say but a local traffic officer in my IAM group drove a mercedes and he reconed they had uprated suspension on that (More stiffened than lowered though)

Re: vRS Occy II Unmarked Police Car - M3

I stand to be informed by those with more knowledge, no probs.

Not my farce (sic) any more, I woke up one day and got a real job!!!

I did notice that the Hantspol Mk2 s were running mk1 rs alloys on the telly a while back.

The original springs probably fell off the mercs....!!!

Even though I've left, they still gotta outdrive me to catch me!!! ....

Just noticed you had an old rapid 130. They could certainly supraise a few people on the b-roads, especially if they had the newer semi-trailing rear suspension....

Oops, off topic...sorry!

Re: vRS Occy II Unmarked Police Car - M3

I would doubt they'd be lowered, the number of sumps that have been taken clean off on speed bumps during flashcalls in vRS's is quite silly, and that's with standard ride height.

Probably all the flashy kit that snakes get that us area bods don't get. Jealous? Moi? Not a chance...

The blue light runs are a tiny part of a job that whilst being very necessary and difficult is very, very dull. I'm sure Southern Water deal with less cr@p on a daily basis.

Solution : Fit a basic sumpguard.

Re: vRS Occy II Unmarked Police Car - M3

local traffic branch in antrim have a new unmarked silver vrs. one of the little telltle signs is they have an extra set of blue flashers recessed in the front bumper between the wheel and the lower front grill, as well as behind the main front bonnet grill

Try explaining that to the Transport Services department. Their solution was to switch to 4x4 2.0 FSI's. Shocking.

As for the RR, one hopes you mean Range Rover as opposed to the variant of the legendary RR ur_Quattro Audi...
