What i like about my car.....ALOT... Driving a BMW 320 touring with msport kit and 18' wheels for the last 3 and a half years now, i had to look out for a new company car..... After some test drives I had decided for the RS tdi octavia (diesel is a must for our company cars). When i picked up the car, it was disapointing for me......and this for 2 reasons... - An ugly phone holder, but it came standard with bluetooth - no auto lights... The auto lights, that's my mistake, i ordered the wrong thing myself , the phone holder will be removed shortly (thanks stu..).After this first disappointment, i started to get to know the car in more detail... - I got the LS Sound system, and i must say, what a sound......even full power, there is little distortion of the sound, but i can't bear it for a long time, i would get permenant ear damage. - The stream radio/cd/mp3...what a delight. Put in a cd with mp3 files, and it plays them flawless. With around 200-250 songs per cd(and i can put in 6 cd's), who needs an ipod.. - The traffic information recording, perfect..: first thing i do when i start the car in the morning is to press the button and get the latest traffic information, with also the location of the speed camera's...(they are announced on the radio here in Belgium) - The bluetooth connection to my pda: a little less happy, but it works. Once i figured out that i cannot let my pda go into sleep mode (connection will be lost) everything else works like a charm (phone book on maxi-dott..) - The maxi-dott: a lott of options and settings (and apparantly i didn't found all of them yet). For the anti-carr jacking option on my Bmw, i had to go to the garage and had it changed...now i can do it myself.. - The power: i will have to get used to the front wheel drive again, but i already can say it's awesome...and i leave a lot of other cars behind at the traffic lights.. - The first reaction of other people when i told at work i ordered a skoda....you a skoda and not a bmw...why..do you have troubles with management...can't you get what you want? - second reaction after i showed them the car, took them for a spin: would this fit in my car budget also???? The car is not yet a week old, i have almost 1000km already, i didn't find out all all of the secrets yet, but i'm loving it every day more and more...... I have a good feeling and it keeps getting better...and if i had to choose all over again....i take the same choice again (maybe with auto lights this time, but i will get over this one also...) Rgds Begie

Re: What i like about my car.....ALOT... I have a vRS TDI as well but not with all your electronic gadgets. You will have finished running it in soon (1,500km), so you will be able to FULLY enjoy the relaxed performance from the tsunami of TDI torque and an engine which, IMHO, sounds like a grizzly bear on heat on full throttle; plus the handling is not that bad either. Are you anywhere near Spa-Francochamps? If so go and find the old GP circuit!! ENJOY - I do.

Re: What i like about my car.....ALOT... I'm not so far from SPA away, and afterall, it's a joy to drive, so distance does not matter. But i'm more fore rallying (sometimes copilot, organiser also...) Even thinking about hiring a factory skoda octavia kit car for our home rally (a dealer nearby has some rallycars). Dreaming of the fabia wrc, but unfortunatly, that's not in our budget... I've already heard the roar, and its a very nice sound....

How do you get the traffic recording thingy to work? I have this facility on the Fabia (works fine) but although the owner's manual makes a cursery reference to the function on the octy II, it gives no instrucions as to how you access it! | |

Re: What i like about my car.....ALOT... Next to the info button on the stream radio, i have on the right a button called AIM (i suppose it's also on the right in GB?). When you press on it you get the options to play the last recorded messages, and als a setup button where you can set up the 2 time periodes where the stream has to record the messages...
