Re: Whats different about this then?

Stu - does it look too much with the outer chrome rings fitted at the same time - or haven't you tried? I really like it though - looking forward to the details on where the bits are from.

Re: Whats different about this then?

Thanks Bosnjo - i think that looks ace. I have the outer chromes already - just hadn't gone to the lengths to get these from a VW and retro-fit. Is that the deal? Where did you source your new parts?

I've got the whole Golf5 Climatronic unit on eBay. If you want one you have to be patient and watch and bet on many of them untill you get one not too expensive. I've got mine (if remember well) for arround 40 euros.
Then you just swap chrome parts from kn0bs and OFF button.

Re: Whats different about this then?

OK - fair enough - i assume thats what Stu has done - patient man!
I see awesome GTI offer some rather bling Alu dial options now.
I don't think they are the way forward.

Thanks for the info Bosnjo

Re: Whats different about this then?

Pretty much as Bosnjo says, simply a case of swapping the buttons over. Takes about 10 minutes of careful fiddling.

Guys, be sensible if you are bidding on one then let everyone know and don't bump the prices up for each other, there are loads of these around and they come up often enough -

Re: Whats different about this then?

Thanks Stu - i won't be bidding on this - just about to go on holiday for 10 days and won't be about for delivery. Is there a VW part number on there though that we could get a quote on - or has this been tried and found to be a rip-off?

Re: Whats different about this then?

Question is can you swap the whole unit over to get the light and the dual button if you are buying the whole unit or are there oddities to doing that?

Re: Whats different about this then?

VW part number of the one I have is 1K0 907 044 AT.

It would be feasilbe to swap the whole unit but illumination is different I think.

Hmm I know somebody who is very very good at surface mount LED swapping

I wonder, do you still have the remains of the climatronic unit Stu?

I'm curious and might be able to get her to try changing the LED's to suitable green ones and see if it all works. FOC to you of course.

Re: Whats different about this then?

Daft question. How easy would it be to change the climatic panel for the climatronic. Can't believe it would be too easy, but Stu has worked miracles before

Here's hoping.

Re: Whats different about this then?

TBH it doesn't bother me about the LED.

I'm not sure on swapping Climatronic for Climatic. Could be a bit more involved with motors etc, I just don't know I'm afraid.
