Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Received a NIP through the door this morning, caught at 103mph in an NSL area.

Before the self righteous squad start, I take full responsibility for my own actions and understand what I have done, and i do not condone this.

It was Saturday morning and i was going to have my car serviced at Star performance, Stuck behind a queue of about five cars we came up to a straight about a mile long had a peek and nothing coming the other way, WOT and out past them, as i passed the last car i seen the scamera van on the horizon, pulled in and returned to NSL. Beautiful clear day and only seconds above speed limit.

No current points on driving licence,

I suppose the question is, has anyone any experienced how big the book is that may be thrown at me? had a look at http://www.speed-trap.co.uk but the people on that site just seem to want off 100% Scott free on technicalities, Obviously that would be great but I really just need to keep my licence to stay in a job, 120 Mile commute every day.

Any Insight would be appreciated

Probably a 14 day ban and fine of a few hundred quid.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Aye I'd say a short ban and a fine.

My was a month for a speed over a ton. Late night empty motorway etc. Be very sorry, it's your first offence, explain you need your licence for work and maybe a family member that relies on it do your best blue eyed boy act too.

If you lucky you will get a short ban and a little fine. But most important of all say you are sorry and you regret you've done it/ say your stupid etc.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Ask your employer very nicely for a letter saying how you must have your car for work etc. This can be produced by your solicitor in court and they may then offset not banning you with a much heavier fine.

Get some legal representation ASAP.

Check your household insurance (yes, household insurance) as some policies include legal cover for you and your family relating to any matter. Direct Line even have an advice line you can call for free advice.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

For similar I got 6 points and a £230 fine + costs of £20.

This was given to "encourage" me to stay below the speed limit for the next 3 years as, if I got caught again at a silly speed it would be an automatic ban.

Worked well at keeping me sensible.

A guy at work has recommended this site;

http://www.justiceforeveryone.co.uk/

He has been sent an e-mail saying you can get the standard letter for £33 at the moment as he bought a Talex GPS camera thingy from an associated company.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Magistates look very dimly at 30mph over any speed limit and as a general rule,
100mph+ is a ban, albeit usually a short one.

Humble pie and legal representation are the order of the day, as is a letter from your employer.

Spooky. Had a phone call from someone local to me who also got caught at 103mph, on a motorway. Bad luck.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Actually mine was on a motorway, just realised yours was on an A road So in effect you were doing over 40 above the limit. According to magistrates guidelines, that is autmatic ban territory.

Bend over, it's rhino time springs to mind

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

In some respects a ban is potentially better as you won't get points on your license, on the other hand it s*x more as you are going to be without a car

I got VERY lucky at 3 digit speeds, roughly same as yours, and 3 points + fixed penalty were given as an option (or court). Guess which one I opted for..

Bad luck though & hope the judge is in a reasonable mood that day.

I do have a similar looking brother and it was a front facing Scamera too, but as he's a Travelling rep of sorts I doubt he would agree to any unmentionable acts

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

Hypotheticly, if you cant remember who was driving, no one will get banned. You (as the registered keeper) would get a big fine and they would be very upset if you tried to pull this one off.

Dont do this as it is naughty.

Ask for the photo in order to assist your defence.

Also, I believe that digital camera images can be shown to be useless because they are not stored in a secure format and hence, coul dbe tampered with = no evidence. You need a clever/expensive solicitor for this one though.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

This is a slightly unusual method of attempting to get off a speeding fine that was reported on the North West news last night. Unsurprisingly, it didn't work!!

My work mate has given me this link:

www.justiceforeveryone.co.uk/adam.htm

Apparently, you get a guarantee of your money back if it does not overturn your speeding fine.

Re: Caught Speeding @ 103mph

You need an innocent party who relies on you to transport them to places - i.e. children that cannot get to school via public transport, a disabled/elderly relative that you take to care sessions/hospital/day centres etc or family members/colleagues that rely on you to get them to work due to lack of public transport. that could save you a ban. but you'll still get the points and a hefty fine.
