| FAO Phil C Phil, How's the Signum going? Could you give me some ideas of the running costs? I have done mine for the Octavias and posted them up, but I'm getting close to new car change time and wondered what they are like on costs, bearing in mind that I am a high mileage driver. Ta. Jon

| Re: FAO Phil C I'm not a high mileage driver, so I can't give full details, but so far I'm averaging mid-30's to the gallon (3.0 V6 diesel), but I do a lot of town driving. On the m-ways, it'll do a steady 40mpg. Front tyres seem to last about 18,000 miles, and they're a funny size, so they're not cheap (215/55 R17) -about £100 a side. The autos have a high front pad wear rate, but mine's manual. The annual service last year was £130, as far as I remember. I've had no mechanical problems apart from an intermittent starting problem that was fixed with an engine ECU firmware change. Considering my car is an Elite, with most of the toys, I've had no other problems. As I'm sure you aware, you can chip 'em to over 200bhp cheaply enough, and customer remappers are starting to pick up on this engine now. There's lots of info at www.vectra-c.com, too. Phil |
