Smile good names for a dog!!

Well after two years me and the mrs have finally decided to get a dog

The new addition to our family will be an irish (red) setter dog on october the 20th

my problem now is naming him, the wife fancied giving him an irish name but the ones that spring to mind all seem a bit stereotypical

So dog lovers of briskoda what do you call your four legged friends?..............

Dogs respond best to words ending in Y - hence mine is BOBBY.

Food for thought

In that vein, there was an owner who delighted in calling his two dogs in at night, named Whisky and Soda...

Re: good names for a dog!!

The mad dog in my avatar is called Jay and our old dog was called Sami.

You could call him Roy after Roy Keane. He's Irish and played for 2 teams that play in red (Nottingham Forest & Man U)

Re: good names for a dog!!

How about calling him 'Red'? Original I know, but I like it

Our German shepherd dog was called Troy, ridiculous as a pup but he grew into it! If and when we get another dog it will have a human name such as Dave

Re: good names for a dog!!

Thinking about it, dogs do respond (as Manguish said earlier) to two-syllable names. Even in the Woodentops, Spot was know as Spotty Dog

Glad to hear you're getting there jimvrs Of course "Oi!" works for most pets and kids. Never found that to work with fish though for some reason...
