| Depends what you're eating... On the one hand, a large meal is not a good idea as you'll generally feel sluggish and will struggle to digest it properly while exercising. On the other hand, a low blood-sugar level isn't a great idea. So balancing between the two is the key. ![]() Rob. |

| Try not to eat large meals within at least 2 hours before going to the gym. Your body will be using up energy digesting the food and you will start to feel tired sooner. Also, there's the possibility that you may see yuo food again. Try to eat a snack just before the gym. Something like a cereal bar or a nutrigrain bar should give you a bit more energy. Also, if you don't intend eating your main meal just after the gym, then it is adviseable to eat a snack when you come out as well. The reason for this is that this is the time your body will be looking for the energy. Snacks which are good for energy - Bananas, Jaffa Cakes (seriously) JD

| Sack it off and go to the pub as you can always eat whilst you exercise there.

| You don't want much food before you go, unless it's light. Otherwise it'll sit in your stomach like a bowling ball all the time you're in there, and may make a bid for freedom. I once had chicken and chips for lunch before going to the gym 3 hours later. Bad idea! A guy I used to work with who was a body builder always had a banana and an Espresso before he went -the fruit for energy, and the coffee for it's stimulant effect. The banana's Ok, IMHO, but coffee is a diuretic, so it reduces your body fluids. Not good, if you sweat as much as I do! Phil |

| As the former medical adviser to the Scottish Football team I suggest you try what they use: Baked Beans on Toast

| Don't eat beforehand, digestion takes up blood and having a full stomach makes you feel sluggish. Also, depending on how you much you exert yourself you can give yourself a hernia. And once, I saw someone cack themselves (in a very real sense) at the bottom of a ~350kg squat ![]() |

| try to have something light, mind you it depends what you are doing, if purely weights then you can eat a bit heavier food, whereas if cardio then a lighter snack is better. If i'm doing just weights then I carb up the night before but when doing cardio I find something like weetabix an hour before I go is best and as said before coffee is good for you as it raises your metabolism so as long as you burn it off then is beneficial.

could be one of a number of things first thing to realise is that the human body (even yours) hates being messed about with in such a way. Hair is there for a good reason, not to make us look good, although my hairy chest and medallion draws attention all the time back to your problems its a reaction to the hairs being removed, it should settle in a few days. shower twice a day or better still use a bath use a new towel for each drying and a moisturiser (I never thought I'd write that on a car forum!!) not taking the mickey here: it can be very sore; almost like sunburn, so go easy with it. ANY skin irritation that lasts longer than ten days should be physically seen by a DR (no, I don't want photos!) that hair was meant to be there........have you learned a lesson from this? ![]()

| Thanks for the advice, it does seem to be going down a fair bit now. No I plan on getting it again and will see if I get another rash. Really had it done so I can get a proper suntan. The hair blocks the UV rays getting to my skin. |

| Did you go for the full "back, crack and sack"? ![]() Just make sure you moisturise, it should go in 2-3 days (so I'm told )As for the eating prior to the gym, keep it light. The banana and espresso should be OK. I like a nana before the gym and a protein bar after it.

| I couldnt go through with the "back, sack and crack". I dont know how anyone can do the sack/crack. Originally i went to do my back, but a friend convinced me to do my chest as Id look like austin powers. I left my arms but they looked stupid compared to the of rest of me so I went ahead and did them too. The itching has stopped now and redness has gone, just spots from the hair folicles. Should be ok in a few days. |
