Help me get them home in one piece!

i will be hiring a van and going up to my sisters to pick up one maybe two sofas soon, does anyone have any tips to enable me to have these sofa(s) in one piece by the time i get home, I know i will need to cover them with something too as they are white but my main concern is damage.

cheers

Take some rope and plenty of wadding. The van will have load points (eyes) to tie the rope through. pack plenty of wadding under the rope and contact areas, prevents rubbing of any frame. Make sure it's tight for braking, doubt you will be accelerating hard, so make sure it's safe for braking and lateral. As to covers, poundstretchers kingsize sheets should do it.

Another tip is bin bag of old clothes, makes a good cushion to push them up against when tieing off.

Don't know if you've driven vans before, so won't say untill you say

FWIW - Be aware of the weight-load and quality of brakes. Do an emergency stop 25 yards from home, then go back and pack some more, as required; make sure your seat/head rest are in the right position and your seat belt also. If you are driving off wing mirrors only (back windscreen obscured), be aware, and a practise run for that also wouldn't hurt.

Have a safe trip - both you and the cargo

Best
Mo
