Postal Fraud Be Warned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it
has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making
people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called (PDS Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO
NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £15 for the phone call.
If you do receive a card with these
details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655 or ICSTIS (the
premium rate service regulator) at
PhonePayPlus - ICSTIS is re-branding <http://www.icstis.org.uk/>

Though the highest charging rate for premium rate numbers is £1.50 a minute, so they'd have to keep you on the line for 10 minutes before it'd cost you £15...

No it doesn't.

It comes from a very unreliable source who has just forwarded on one of the usual hoax emails.

There was a company doing something vaguely similar but they have long since been closed down.
There are no premium rate numbers charging as much as was mentioned , and if you hang up you stop being charged immediately.

Re: Postal Fraud Be Warned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there was another one floating around where the customer was rung up and asked when they be in as they had a parcel that needed to be delivered to them. carefully being chatted to the con artist would gentle extract when they would be out i.e. at work and in that time the house would be burgled.

You also need to beware of this other postal related scam:

Postmen are all a bunch of work shy lazy crooks who will steal anything that looks remotely valuable in the post.

Re: Postal Fraud Be Warned !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best delivery scam I saw recently was on "The Real Hustle", a guy was waiting for a package for his boss (a reclining chair with foot stool), one of the guys turns up and delivers a small box, hurrys him to sign without letting him check the contents. Deliverer drives off and guy runs out of door with dolls house sized chair.

Initial Sh***y Link is probably among the worst couriers out there. I have known them to remove goods from a sealed box, they dump box on doorstep, shove the clipboard in front of you and ask you to sign, they get the signature then rush off.

Moral of the story, do not simply sign for something as you are signing to say you have received something in good condition. You should check contents and condition. Usually though, nowadays, companies send parcels with security tape which says security checked, to avoid these sort of problems.
