Anyway, I'm saving up all I have to say for Duxford. No point in arriving with nothing to say is there?

Without Broadband I now find this site oh so slow & tend to visit less & only post if I really want to as posting just takes toooooooo long

If only the pretty new forum was as quick as the not so pretty old one. Still thats progress I suppose, keep up with all the people with high speed internet & leave the rest of us behind.

Still theres "other marques" on Scoobynet, I notice a few names popping up there from time to time

I'm struggling to stay awake in work - flipping between Briskoda and BBC websites.

Once the boss buggers off I'm off too.

Stuart,

I'll be spending this weekend working on the lite theme, should be user sectable in your control panel from now. Along with profile tweaks of visual settings, check featues such as sig's, avatars, wysiwyg options. There is still some "maintenance" code getting pushed to the client, this will be turned off after this weekend.

Also made enquirys about server tweaks; sadly it will set me back 60 + GBP per month, as said before the change was done so I could recover some time, not a case of trying to leave people behind...I am trying to get it sorted, I have a modem lead and everything for this weekend as this is the last weekend for ages I can spend working on the site...The newly appointed generals are doing great work, but as I have grown up with the site over 14 months it's takes a few weeks for others to catch up that history, direction and to identify issues (such as this slowness you report) and resolve via new structure untill everyone is up to speed technically (which we all are now )

Sorry for the offtopic spread Alex.

But Stuart, could you supply me with a few traceroutes to www.briskoda.net, when you are next online, quote sccobynet at the same time if you like, this might also be a bottol neck of your ISP's making. I suspect smileys list etc are not helping, thus lite theme will be lite (be prepared).

I've just come back from the pub!

Had to go down today for 2 reasons:

1) Just found out I'm highly likely to be made redundant (and as I've not been in my job for 2 years won't get any redundancy money.) Great news coming up to Crimbo!!

2) Some might say more impotantly, pre-match drinks from tomorrow's game! COME ON JOHNNY!

I agree though, for all the members at Briskoda - why do only 3% actually post anything, can 97% not type?*

Andy

* 3% and 97% are completely made up numbers, but they feel about right.

Likewise Andy, I've got a feeling I'll be ok but it does concern me especially when you consider the numbers. 80 from here and about 45 from the Pompey office...

****, that's a lot of people, we're only looking at 23 I think, but that doesn't help when you're 99.9% sure you're one of the 23.

Bit surprised to see that you still have had such a problem Stuart - thought initially it was just that the change was causing problems. Im an IT idiot so have no technical knowledge but find that work (probably a decent system) and home (muppet system) is just as fast as the old forum

Had a trip in this boat aswell. Very unpleasant and about this time of year. I can only recommend a whiskey and a call to local employmeny rights folk.

As my dad said after spending many years working as an elecronics engineer then with taking on the family business;
I've learnt more about life and business in these few weeks than I ever have or would have.

He was of course talking after a voluntary liquidation of the business after nearly 90 very sucessfull years, sadly the town died beneath our feet; such is the pain of retailing.

But the words are true enough, oddly enough despite our great loss; not only way of life, but incomes, the bleak period for him and mother that lay ahead as it turned out was the most enlightening. Indeed now was possibly the right course, but would never of happened without the loss of the business. Of course at the time, this viewpoint was many miles away, affairs closer to home and that of the 10-15 employees were in focus...

I wish you all well, least you sound like you have competent managers. Ours just messed up about till we gave up asking if we were redundant and went back to working like good little elves.

23 is the nmagic number, or one over..IIRC if more than 20 or 21 people go in a three month period to redundacy you qualify for benefits immed and can get straight into the retraining ladder (should it be needed).

Our company whittled away and kept it under this number as it costs them alot more...might be worth asking ACAS for latest...

/Edit: our company, present, not afore mentioned family Co.

Thanks Colin,

Sorry to hear about your father's business.

I'll be looking into the legal side of our reorganisation programme, I think they're offering redeployment (where possible?) so they may use that as an excuse for keeping the number lower maybe?

Who knows, think I'll go home for a beer soon, as I'm not in the mood to do any more work today.

Andy

No problem, and not to worry about business, blame the railways, Rolls Royce and a town outside the classical geographical models for settlement...blame glaciers the whole lot...

Crewe!

A lump of clay that should not be there, as aresult they build a massive railway town and then the railways died, the town and all her residents sink with her...was really bad (this is like 10+years ago though) It's better now, but have not been in for ages.

Sounds like an excuse, of course *if* your one who is selected, you are entilted to use the time from that point to your last day seeking other work, which can take a very long time Don't forget to see the report that details there reasoning on who goes and who does not.

Hope you have a good weekend all things given...
