| 'Spring cleaning' - put away the Karcher Hi, Used to clean our concrete flags (rear and side of house) with high pressure sprayer with lance. Used to take 5 to 6 hours to do a proper job and got covered in dirt from spray bouncing back, water etc. Plus a load of hassle dragging the hoses and power cable and extension lead around and untangling them. Anyway, for the 2nd time (cos I couldn't believe the results from the first time) , I've tried using bleach and a 'pump up' pressure sprayer with lance. 6 * 2 litre bottles of cheapo Asda bleach (38p) and 1 hours work. Do it at least several hours before rain is expected if possible - to give the bleach chance to work. Let the rain do the rest - all the green mould & other rubbish gone ! SO much easier. |

| Re: 'Spring cleaning' - put away the Karcher The bit I find silly is the claim that there are times when you can "expect it not to rain for several hours" in Greater Manchester!! ![]() |

| Briskodian | Re: 'Spring cleaning' - put away the Karcher Algae doesn't form nor dirt cling into the dents on stones quite so much or quickly if you paint them with a solution of matching oil based paint and white spirit. The plan is for it to soak in enough not to leave a skin on the surface, so they still look natural, but not to be too thin that it's pointless. Depending on how pockmarked the stones are, maybe 50:50 as a test on a bit you can't see. If you are artistic, you can play Silly-B's and blend colours in places to avoid an awful flat look, or, if artistic, you could do a trompe loeil picture so that algae forms in the unpainted bits to form the relief ![]() Mo |

![]() As you pretty much said, the splashback from a pressure washer gives a whole new meaning to "Eat dirt!". There had to be a better way... Artistic talent is in the eye of the generator rather than the viewer methinks: We asked the nice man who had just levelled some concrete if it could be impressed whilst wet. "Yes," he said, looking very worried. Me and son scampered off and found all his sandpit toys of fishes etc. We even got the nice man to hook them onto a pole to reach middle places so we left no footprints at all ![]() Best Mo

I've had worse things said about me ![]() Where, London - darn Sarff. What, co-founder of Daft Bats Party. Whence, from Hull - Oop Norff, Kingston upon Hull actually. Yes, fun. As my son grows older, he has to make his way in the world of sensible people. I hope he keeps his sense of silly, cos that's what keeps you going when you are carrying home a full briefcase looking forward to several more hours' work and the proverbial "See you tomorrow for more of the same". Membership to the Daft Bats Party is free BTW. Regards Mo

Man of ONeill clan speak with forked tongue - see, you've made go all Red Indian now. I'd best watch out - there might a not-so-Goody person about who'll rage on about my teepee and slow-cook dog supper. And I said teepee - the hair is like the men leading the charge at Badajoz in Sharpe = forlorn hope (the last 29, eek, years). Last edited by anonymouse; 22-01-2007 at 16:24. Reason: misshed bits

| Re: 'Spring cleaning' - put away the Karcher Blinking ice-warning on Fabia caught me - again. We've two Gatsos within two miles of where we live. I've also got a Talex - twice I've not put it in the car and twice, just as I've passed the Gatsos, the ice warning has chimed. Each time, for brief moment, I think I've just been done - instead of just been had ! |
