Stuff your pet like, but shouldnt

So far we've found out Louis, our 12 week kitten likes the following (by him stealing scraps from plates):

Kirkland Premiuim Icecream (from costco - very nice!)
Sweet n sour sauce
Sponge cake
Chips
Donar meat
Crisps (any flavour!)
Lettice

A little here and there cant hurt him. Cant get Icecream out without him being there - He knows the sound of *that* freezer drawer

Doesnt make him ill, or toilet issues so

Got any crazy pets that like our food better than their own?

Re: Stuff your pet like, but shouldnt

Our cats love Pringles especially Sour cream and chive but they will even eat salt and vinegar. Plus curry and fajitas and any meat that isn't fried. Not keen on sausages though, maybe that says something.

Old dog used to like frozen broccoli and would fight you to get to fresh shelled peas. Peas were like crack for that dog.

tess cat likes chilli but she leaves the kidney beans in the bowl, other than she's a pretty fussy cat whereas her now departed brother would eat almost anything at least twice.

our uncles dog eats wallnuts - he even shells them himself

Re: Stuff your pet like, but shouldnt

Might be worth checking some of these things out, as some odd foods are toxic to animals. For example (but not mentioned yet) Grapes, raisins & onions can be very toxic to dogs and have been know to kill after just a few.

Which Foods are Toxic to Cats and Dogs?

Eek! Didn't know that. My mum and dad often give their dog the occasional grape.

I knew chocolate was toxic but not grapes.

Re: Stuff your pet like, but shouldnt

My retriever liked eating the kitchen and he still likes eating pants and socks, never clean ones, they come out of the other end intact! when he was a puppy and will now eat anything he loves fruit and veg and any kind of cosmetics. The American Cocker goes mental for spicy chicken and fish! Most strange, the retriever gets more of his 5 a day than I do.

My cat steals shoes. Doesn't eat them, just moves them around.

To the extent the police were involved once.

Troy loves grapes and looks cute when he eats them.

Troy loves any human food really, cheese, lettuce, chips (probably his favourite), you drop it and he'll try and get it. I found out last night that he doesn't like salt and vinegar french fries (crisps)

i spend alot of time at my friend jasons house who has two kittens, and they seem to have a thing for shoes, the fight them and put the heads in them, also they steal lettice and cucumber from the tortoise in the garden and for some reason it often ends up in the shoes. if i come round for a few hours when i leave i have to shake the salad from my shoes that i left in the hall lol

When we first got our lovely George, he used to love ham, cheese, porridge, lettuce and Wotsits.

When he first went into a cattery, he came back with a stomach bug and now if he eats anything other than his Hill's biscuits and a bit of Felix, he gets sick! The vet said he has a sensitive stomach now!

Re: Stuff your pet like, but shouldnt

grapes are very high in sugar which is what doesn't agree with teh dogs i think

and our uncles dog Paco not only eats walnuts he has cracked himself but he loves pasta

cass was the one though, he would eat anything!! i would give him spincy stuff on purpose to see if he'd hate but nope the gready sod would just chomp on it.

tess how ever seems to only eat things that are animals or from animals, she won't eat any fruit/veg or sweet stuff but loves cheese, milk and meat.

Our dog has a thing for socks, sneaks in, rummages through laundry pile and tries
to sneak out with anything up to 3 or 4 pairs stuffed in his mouth

my parents ex-cat used to drink white wine , out of the glass or bottle, it wasn't fussed

used to hoover up any left over meat from a chinese meal or sunday roast

it was very partial to catching then eating rabbits aswell , just leaving the odd leg here and there

We were getting lots of childrens shoes for a while and gloves, bits of carpet etc.

We didn't find out where he was taking them from until he turned up with a pair of size 10 mens trainers.
We found out they were the neighbours across the road and they'd been on his back door step.
The cat had walked about 100m around the houses and over a 4' fence with the shoe then gone back for the other one.

Meanwhile 2 other neighbours were fighting and one one called the police accusing the other of stealing his kids shoes. He doesn't know yet it was our cat.

It mostly stopped when we moved but I regularly find slipper and boots piled up in the lounge.

Troy has got the same problem. I think he must have a secret stash somewhere as we started hiding clean and dirty socks a week ago so he couldn't get them and he still appeared with a sock in his mouth this morning.

He prefers my dirty socks for some reason
