Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

That very tragic!

I knew of a smilar incident a few years back.

A young lad that i worked with went out with in his mate's Renault Clio Williams his parents had just bought him... and all 3 of them were killed excluding the driver!

Very sad indeed!!!!

A very american tragedy...

news24 | Ocala.com | Star-Banner | Ocala, Fla.

I'm afraid I can't relate to it at all - it just reads like an episode of The O.C.

Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

Oh f*ck...

We can all talk s*it all day... but I wouldn't go out in a new M5 and whack everything up max/harshest/most/lots. I don't think anyone sensible would.

I know my Octavia is "only" 180bhp, but it's a bit of a hand-full when you're not expecting it to come on boost etc. After 10 months of Fabia I was used to it's power and subtleties.

Still very sad though

I feel sympathy for all those concerned and their families. I think most of us on here would have jumped at the chance to drive something silly like an M5 when we were 18 and a large proportion of us would have ended up in a crash I dare say.

It was quite erie to read the thread and see how it developed to it's tragic end, very sad watching life and death play out like that.

You are so right about the inevitable outcome sadly.

Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

yep kids in supercars,an accident waiting to happen, turns out t was his dads car,the question has to be if you were the dad, regardless of how much cash you had, would you let your 18 year old child drive it?

And perhaps that's the problem - driving age in the states is 16 iirc, by 18 you're WAY responsible

Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

i think they have it the right way round, driving 5 years before you can legally drink, but some sense has to be used, did the father really think his son would not use the performance? I would blame him,and if it was my child as one of the passengers,i would probably want to kill the irresponsible idiot.

Well we all know there'll be a writ heading for BMW HQ just as soon as they can prove the car was going too fast for human control...

Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

And the Society of trees had better watch out too.

What was this lads father thinking of? Absolute tragedy and I bet the other children’s parents didn’t realise the true performance of the BMW either.

Re: Teenagers die in M5 crash.

Thats tragic
Its not a case of young drivers and powerful car

More like immature or inexperienced driver with a car. Power doesnt matter that much.
I've read stories of young drivers and 1.1l cars

A Tragedy yes but what makes it worse is that it could have been avoided.

Whilst I agree that anyone can have an accident in a 1.1, you have to admit you can have a much bigger accident in a nigh on 200 mph super saloon, regardless of airbags etc. One of the news links said they thought they might have been doing around 140mph and that combined with a tree means a much worse outcome than a 1.1 flat out. They probably wouldn’t have even attempted their run in a 1.1 and if they had, they wouldn’t have flown so far. I still think the father should have thought about giving the keys to his very young son.
