Well spent took about 2.5 hrs to travel 10 miles on the M9 - Edinburgh- Stirling motorway - this morning.

A lorry had blown over on the Forth Road Bridge, completely blocking N bound traffic, therefore anyone wanting to travel North through Scotland had to go up the M9 and was met by massive tailback heading to the only other bridge over the Forth.

FRB regularly gets shut to high vehicles when it is windy, but this is the 1st time for a while that it has been completely blocked.

The Scottish Govt has recently announced a new crossing and guest what - another bridge *bangs head off wall* - Build a f**cking tunnel for crh*t sake!!!!!

They'll not build a tunnel, Too expensive & too many unexploded munitions lying on the bed of the Forth, That and Souter's after £3.3m to run a flymo across from Kirkcaldy to Leith.

The bridge will be quicker to build as the current crossing is in a **** state structurally speaking.

Modern bridges have special barriers to divert the wind over and away from the deck and away from high sided vehicles.

More often than not the second Severn crossing is still open while the old crossing is closed as it doesn't have deflectors fitted.

I'm all in favour of another bridge, but think it should be like the kincardine bridge.

As from 14th Febraury the tolls are ment to be coming off, and that will be fun with a increase in traffic.

Tolls end on the 11th, And they recently spent £8m on the new toll plaza.

Got to make another six trips to the inlaws with the vouchers I bought otherwise we will lose out.

Agree what a waste of cash on new toll booths just to be taking away and I feel sorry for the people that work in them out of a job unless they can get them other jobs.

I reckon the lifespan of the bridge will be shortned with the increase in traffic using the bridge.

and it's going to cost another million or two to demolish these new tolls!!!

don't see the fact that it will be toll free causing much extra traffic - not may folks would go round by Kincardie, or even Stirling, for the sake of £1
