Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

WTF - nice it maybe (not tried it) but what I'm wondering about is the thinking before this event!

Did you say to yourself, "today I'm going to see what tuna and orange juice mixed together tastes like."

Or was it just a random spillage in the kitchen and the rest is history?

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

Its a quick protein fix.

Tuna is a great source of protein but its dry and time consuming to eat.

Mix it with orange juice and the orange juice eliminates any of the taste of tuna, so really its like your drinking lumpy orange juice

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

Apparently they used to grind liver into orange juice for hospital patients in days gone by to be sure they got enough iron (presumably before tablets were invented LOL). Just wondering why orange rather than lime juice though? Aside from taste match, lime is meant to be very good for warding off cramps.

What about mixing with some low-fat mayo? Plus you'll pick up some more protein from the mayo's egg content?

And just mix the tuna and mayo BTW - I don't want you adding orange juice to that. That would defintely be digusting!!

Tuna and orange juice is disgusting, and should be shot.

BTW Walkie, add a raw egg surely?

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

I've drank a few raw eggs in my time

Bit dodgy that though, unlike tuna and orange juice

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

Well, lets get down to the nitty gritty here. If anyone has fish at a restaurant, who actually throws away the untouched slice of lemon before eating the fish? Me? I squeeze mine to death then eat the meat out the slice. How different is orange to lemon? Still citrus, no? And tuna is a fish.

It looks odd, but I imagine there is sound logic behind it and it probably tastes OK. Q is what quantities to mix it in? Do you have tuna swimming in OJ like above? Or do you have a bowl of "mushy" OJ flavoured tuna?

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

There's a whole different world of difference from simply garnishing a piece of fish on a plate with small amounts of citrus fluid, compared to actually MIXING tuna and orange juice together!

Re: Tuna & Orange Juice

Jason - 1 tin of tuna, 27g of protein, put in a pint glass, fill the glass with orange juice, mix with fork

I ate most of the tuna out with the fork and with the bottom quarter I drank....

Honestly it taste's quite nice, just lumpy orange juice and serves its purpose
