| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup LOL I do hope it's not just composite and stereo audio going into the back of it. There's a really nice thread on avforums about a guy who's done something similar. Looks very neat ![]() Paul, don't get me started I've forgiven you now though ![]()

| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup Pretty average really. Couple of months ago I was at a distributors' looking at some frameless plasma screens, and they took me to the warehouse to see "something special". 103" plasma. Quite magnificent, and 1080p native resolution. |

| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup I think you'd want to build the room around it - the power and cooling requirements are somewhat extreme. I think it was a Panasonic, but as you can imagine, when faced with such a behemoth the brand name seemed rather unimportant! The dealer was telling us all sorts of amusing stories about it. First off you have to lift it with a specially adapted forklift - the forks have to be at least 1.8m long as it must be lifted lengthways; two forks under the bottom edge would cause enough pressure to break the front glass. It ships in a special container developed by the same company that makes shipping containers for Steinway. The freight charge alone to Europe is around £1600. Must look magnificent running though... I saw it pre-launch so they were somewhat wary of powering it up. I'll have to go back at some point. Sales are expected to be all residential - businesses won't touch something so excruciatingly expensive and hard to deal with. |

| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup If you are going up to that sort of screen size then a proper home cinema room with a projector is much more sensible

But the picture quality is going to far surpass what most projectors can achieve. Black blacks, for starters! | |

| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup Unless you want a 4k projector, no need to spend £30k £3000 today gets you a true HD PJ, whether it's the Pearl (SXRD) or some recent DLP, both which give very good blacks ![]()

| Re: Ultimate HD TV setup Only if you're going rearpro. Otherwise the best black a projector can give is white - the colour of the screen. That's always been the letdown of projection systems. |
