| What should i do ??????? It looks like my new job is now going ahead so i will be able to upgrade my car and i really want a PD 130. I went into my local seat dealer today to get some screenwash and was collared by the salesman, i was offered a new PD 130 upgraded from a PD 110 Cordoba SE for £11000, this car has all the toys i need (and some i dont )However i could consider a furbie Vrs but the boot is too small and i dont like the styling with all the bodykits etc, also the seats are the wrong colour for my son. But i am not too sure of the styling of the Seat and i like the furbie with out all the add-ons. So what do i do ![]() |

| Glad to hear you're progressing job wise, Alex. It sounds to me like you need a family car, so I'd steer clear of the vRS - also the way you drive, your lad is guarenteed to chunder all over those white seats. :p What about a PD130 octy...? they do one don't they?

| white seats + my son = fenl&k job all over the place ![]() octy is a possibility but as SWMBO is learning to drive we need a small car with a big boot and the octy is proving interesting ![]() |

| BRISKODA Staff | PD130 Octy estate as Jason suggested or a TDi110 Octy estate (circa 160bhp post Jabba). You already know the benefits of the Octy estate...I can vouch for the TDi 110 engine in the estate....and Stuart/John T can vouch for the post Jabba remap transformation. I like the look of Seat but I just don't know whether they're built as well as a Skoda. I considered a Leon Cupra but as a family man didn't want the hassle of having to sort out build problems. So I got an RS. Cheers. Adrian.

| the cordoba is insurance group 7 same as my current octy however the equivalent octavia diesels range from group 9 to 11 with the build quality a friend of mine has had a cordoba since 97 and has needed no work done to it apart from servicing and is almost round the clock for the second time |

| Might sir car to purchase one of our wonderfull roof boxes? If the opening or daily space is not the issue, but weekend/traveling space, then it might be an option. I'd love (least I think I would) an RX-8, but the boot is not too small, just the neck is no use to me, eg drop a 21" monitor in there..err no chance. oh nad they don't do roof boxes for the rx-8, but I asked. ![]()

| Cant complain about the value for money seat, had one as a rental car last year in spain. The tdi is very economical, I drove from Madrid to the Marbella, on 3/4 of a tank. After 8 hrs on the road I felt like I just got in. The one I had was fine and had no faults, I have however heard horror stories regarding Spanish build quality compared to other parts of the VAG group. Later cars seem to be worse than earlier ones.

| One of my friends had one of the old Cordoba diesels - had just got it to 215k miles without any real faults when a 75 year old Impreza turbo driver pranged into it when parked (written off obviously as not worth much at that mileage) He has now got a new Cordoba and that seems to be running fine although its a bit early to say whether it will have the reliability of the old one. It does, like the Octy, have a very large boot.

| Any good deals going on a Leon TDi? Not too large to drive but still with a better boot than a furby

| Cordoba is really just a booted Ibiza right (and a small boot at that)? Surely Fabia Tdi Estate would suit sir better? Or the vRS Fabia, but then again beige and black seats....

| Cordoba has a 485ltr boot (against the 528 of the Octy and 426 of the Fabia estate) - its actually a very useable boot as it deeper rather than just wide.

| But it's a saloon which cuts usability, don't see you getting any flat packs home.

| Sounds like a good deal being offered on the Cordoba at the moment. Good engine, good boot, nice to look at... Just hope that the guys and gals in Barcelona have sorted the build quality problems out.

| No offence to these bigger booted cars, but when the rear seats are collapsed there's a decent amount of room (not suitable with a littl'un in the car though, Alex. )I've got my mountain bike in the back of mine. All I had to do was take the front wheel off and it fitted well.

Saloons are great with the seats up but they don't have such a huge increase in space as a hatch with the seat down. And hatches have to take second place to estate in their seat-down furniture carrying capacity. Saloons do tend to have less rattles than hatches though.

| Alex, buy a Cordoba if that suits you and report back from time to time on what it is like. You can always come back to the Skoda fold later if you realise that you have made the wrong decision.

| My choice, with your requirments Alex, would be: 1. Octy 130PD (hatch) 2. Fab Tdi estate (Elegance) 3. Seat Cordoba (at 11k its a bargain for that engine) decisions, decisions... ![]()
