What's the most expensive gift you've bought?

I know we seem to be having a Christmas overload, I'm not just talking about Christmas tho. What is the most expensive gift you have ever bought someone? I'm trying to resist the tempation to buy myself n XBox 360 for Christmas, due to the fact that I want a lap top computer, an i pod nano, and a few techy things for my car. Basically Christmas for myself is getting expensive, however, I have thought that I could get these things anytime, and, due to the fact that I'm a bit of a scrooge, I will probably just spend around £50 on wine instead!!

Whilst on our honeymoon, in Scotland, we popped into the Caithness glass factory where I bought 'the boss' a limited edition paperweight for £299 - I wasn't spoke to for the rest of the day!

The most expensive gift I bought at Christmas time was SWMBO's engagement ring for £500.

At least it saved me some money on Christmas presents....

SWMBO's engagement ring set me back just under 2Gs, and I spent over a grand on her 30th birthday as well.

No wonder I'm skint and reduced to driving a diesel Skoda!

Fortunately we've set a 50 quid ceiling this year!!!

(Hasn't seemed to make it any easier deciding what to get her, though!!!

Hardly romantic, but I got swmbo a pc for Christmas one year. She expressed an interest in building one, so I got her a box of bits. Took bloody ages to wrap them all.

Single most expensive item: engagement ring, but I'm not sure "gift" is the right term for that

Mate went to collect his pre ordered one today, but they all went within 30 mins this morning from GAME birmingham.

EDIT: A bit misleading, he went to collect his preorder voucher not the console.

We don't generally spend a lot on pressies for people, so I'd say Samantha's 4 Proxes T1-rs, that I bought for her 4th birthday.

I built my missus a PC when she started uni a few years back, cost me about £200 and I was well chuffed with myself cause it was something she both wanted and needed.

She got more excited about the Britney CD

I bought for her though. Since then I've been going for cheaper gifts(even if she doesn't want them!!)
