| Who Are You? I have the unfortunate affliction of being lumbered with an old Bloke's name - Roy. Makes you think of a fairly rotund individual who votes Conservative, wears diamond pattern sweaters, has varifocal spectacles and is losing most of his white hair. I often curse my parents for bestowing me with such a stodgy name, and wish I'd had the good sense to use my middle name instead - James (Jim, Jimmy, Jimbo) much more dynamic if you will. Just wondered if you were happy with your own name and whether it made you feel olderr than you appear, or much much younger and sexier and better (than Roy ) |

| Re: Who Are You? If you change your middle name to Alan, you could be RoyAl ![]() And the name Roy is a corruption of the French "Roi" which means King. Roy of the Skodas (But you drive a Mazda... )You can call yourself anything you like, any time you like. How about King Jimbob? ![]() Names are an "ego thing" and as such are pretty irrelevent at the end of the day. For the record, mine's Tone or Tony or Anthony or Ant or Antonio or An Tone Neo or Antony or Anton and I'm not attached to any of them ![]()

| Re: Who Are You? I think the same applies to Heather as it does to Roy. My middle name is even worse so I couldn't even use that. Perhaps I should learn a lesson from Blackadder and call myself Bob.

| Re: Who Are You? I like Andy but the downside is there are quite a few of us about, so you can be confused with other Andys. To save the hassle of having to spell out my surname, I therefore always use the name Billy when booking a taxi, reserving a table at a restaurant, or ordering a collection from a local takeaway! Its something I've done for years and its just stuck.

| Re: Who Are You? Very funny lol. People just started calling me Loz so it stuck. It's nice to be called Lorraine though, it makes me feel like someone knows me properly when they progress from Loz to Lorraine. Also, sometimes if it's a bit noisey I don't repsond to Loz, but if someone says Lorraine I'll hear it and turn round instantly ![]()

| Briskodian | Re: Who Are You? I've never bothered about my name as nicknames always take over. I don't have a middle name though and it's mildy irritating that, when filling out forms, I'm reprimanded for not entering my full name (as if I don't know what it is). Mind you, a relative was Christened with five forenames so I reckon I got the better end of the deal... ![]() Mo |

| Re: Who Are You? I'm a David but I do prefer Dave I've had all the papa lazarou "dave" jokes and the trigger "dave" jokes but only usually from people that don't know me. My wife lovingly refers to me as a "fat tw@" sometimes when I'm on a go-slow. But it's the surname which gets the most attention as I'm about 6'2 and about 18st and my surname is Little, which as you can imagine brings all the old chestnuts out of the bag but I usually get in first "someone was taking the mick". Tbh its water off a ducks back these days (cue loads of wee-taking from now on) Thats the first time I've publicly revealed my true identity !!! |
